I did not take these photos but got them via text last night.

With 4" of rain in places yesterday....Grand Isle is under water....

From what I hear the power is still on. Ughh...

Wow!

I was going to go in there yesterday and take some pix but the road was under water and i was in the Porsche. Was afraid I would start to float so turned around.

Just got another photo from yesterday. So much water. This is the Skipper Buds parking lot.

I'm not sure if they have plans to do anything with the docks. I get the feeling they'd prefer spend zero dollars right now, especially if the southwest side of the marina ends up fully closed this year. I just don't see how they keep that side of the marina open. The parking lot on that side was under water weeks ago...

Back in 2016 you could see clear under the docks. Shoot, in 2015 there were quite a few folks at Grand Isle that would park their dinghy's under the docks.

Yikes is right. I can't believe the power to the docks would still be on. So much risk that someone will set down or drop a live power cord into the water while standing in the water beside it. Somewhere on the great lakes peopleare going to get electrocuted this summer I fear.

We have floating permanent docks at our marina but the power stations on shore are fixed and may have their feet wet.

i would not panic just yet. The Grand River is very high now due to the extensive rain we received in the past 48 hours. There was a deep low pressure sitting over Michigan associated with that rain. Water at our dock in Spring Lake rose 10" over the past 24 hours but it will go back down as soon as the weather improves and the pressure changes. Having said that, the normal seasonal rise in Lake Michigan is underway and we will see levels rise until at least mid August. A dry summer, fall and winter will drop levels dramatically. We will just need to wait and see what happens, but it is not certain that things will be bad through the summer and fall season.

OMG. Georgian Bay is on the same water level as Michigan/Huron. I may head up to the cottage this weekend and will drop by the marina. I expect it will not be a pretty sight. I'll post some pictures.

The problem is the lakes being so high that the drain rate for the rivers is way down. It could be a minute before we get rid of all this. The forecast is for more rain today but it looks dry for the next week. I’ve not ever seen it this high

We just got back from Barrett's. There is a sign up that says the entire campus is closed. Everything is underwater. Water is inside the main storage buildings.

This is the water level one year ago today. Today's level is touching the mid point of the steel beam that the dock planks sit on. That is up 10" since yesterday.

Adds new meaning to the term, "Wet Slip."

And we get levels like that down here in SE Louisiana every time there is a storm surge from a hurricane. However, it usually recedes in a day or so.

Governor Whitmor will probably want to add a $.45/gal gas tax on marine gas and fuel to help pay for a levy system

NorCal those crawdads look amazing! I used to eat those by the pound in Nawlins...makes my mouth water. Gotta suck the juice out of them. Maybe I can get you to ship me 20 pounds on ice...

That high water is crazy! Lake Erie is up but we don't have anything here like that! At least nothing I have seen. The city marina opens tomorrow and our marina opens the 15th (barring a second wave of course) Hope things improve soon.

I took the fam for a drive yesterday to see the carnage myself. It was a great excuse to get out of the house.

We took a look at Village Cove, Holiday Isle, Grand Isle, Grand Haven Yacht Club and the Grand Haven Municipal. Village Cove seems decent, Holiday Isle has space at the docks but problems in their parking lot. All the rest...docks pretty much at or below water level (as of yesterday).

We really need that long, hot, dry summer we've all been talking about :)
