GPS - Referbished or New

Been looking for a Garmin 54cv GPS. I am NOT a fisherman so I plan on getting one w/o the transducer. Has anyone purchased a "Refurbished" GPS? Lots of them available. Are they worth taking a chance? Or just buy new for the extra dollars? Also, anyone know of the best place to buy one?

I think as long as it is a factory refurbish, you can't go wrong. I feel like it was actually touched by and tested by a technician. More testing than a new one.

I've purchased a "Factory Refurbished" RayMarine unit several years ago for a GPS chartplotter. Never had a problem with it.
