. Need to find a way to hide the wires, but, hey, it works. This spring I added a Standard Horizon Phantom radio with the RAM mic connecting inside the small storage area by the helm, and then wired the instruments together for DSC capability.

I've got my 276 mounted in the same area. Drilled through the dash (Yes it hurt  ) for the wires to run to my black box sounder unit mounter under/behind the dash. The transom mounted transducer also hooks to the black box. If got the power coming off the thru Hull exhaust switch since I don't have it on my 240. I've also got mine wired to the VHF for the DSC. You can see the install on my web site.

I am curious about the transom mount transducer. Where and how did you mount yours? I have a 2003 240SD and started to mount the transducer for a Northstar Explorer 657. I located the sensor on the flat between the outdrive and the trim tab. When I drilled the first hole, it punched through a thin fiberglass skin and produced some soft insulation-like material. Needless to say, I stopped at that point. I was expecting some solid material in the transom.

thanks,
WJB

I'll have to take some pictures for you. Don't remember it being to thin?? When I went to the factory I know SeaRay puts wood through out the hull where things are going to be screwed to.

I took the boat to the dealer for other reasons and spoke to them about the transom. The fiberglass guy said they mount transducers there all the time and it should be solid. He thinks it is just a void that formed during manufacturing. I think I will inject some epoxy to fill the void and either drill back in to mount the sensor or move to the port side for a clean start.

p.s. I thought that Sea Ray had gotten away from wooden stringers and transoms. When did you go to the factory.

Last time I went was about 2 years ago. Yes they don't have the stringers per say, but there is wood behind/under the fiberglass anywhere there is screws.
