Like the Wall Street markets, ag commodities (corn) have dropped 50 - 60% since summer. (Should result in lower cost food right?.....yeah right) One of the midwests largest corn based ethanol producer has filed chapter 11

Even when subsidized by the government, this industry can't make a go of it....a somewhat dim light bulb should be going off in Washington.
 
That to me is good news. About time they give up on the corn and go with sugar beets.

Always thought it a gold mine if New Orleans would invest in sugar beet production and turn it into ethanol... takes a lot less oil to make the ethanol than with corn by about 3 times...
