Maybe I am missing something from civics class.

Can the senate pass a veto proof resolution?

If so, how can the current President be blamed for current status of the shutdown.

The House is clear on its position. Trump is clear what he is asking for to sign.

But the end of the day, the Senate could end this with one vote.

Getting tired of the MSM everyday blaming Trump for the shutdown...

My opinion of why the Senate doesn't have the votes to pass the House resolution - voters back home agree with physical barriers.

Both the senate and house would need 2/3 majorities to override any vetoes. This isn't about the wall or security etc. It's about trying to F the President.

First dry run for the next two years of getting absolutely nothing done. The gutless republicans could not do anything for the two years they had the house and the senate. Nancy and Chuckie are just focusing on 2020 that is it. I shut off donations to the Republican Party years ago when I finally came to the realization they are for them not for us. What a pack of losers.

Why bring this political crap to a boating site? Why not just leave this as a place to talk about boats?

This is a virtual dock and we discuss everything folks on a dock might discuss. You entered a password to access the Holding Tank, a part of the forum reserved for just these conversations. Here is the description of the Holding Tank:

It is password protected so you do not enter accidentally, now you know

Not sure what you are referring to, but I didn't do anything of the sort. These posts just show up in my feed.

The Holding Tank is password protected, just as it says above. Not sure how you get here without in putting the password.

What are you on, a computer, tablet, or phone?

Yobub is correct. I don't enter any passwords. It shows up like all the other threads. ( IPhone/IPad )
I personally don't have any issue with political stuff being in the holding tank. You can chose to read them or not.

It showed on my feed too. I used to have to enter the password but not lately.

I wonder if you don't log out after a session and had entered the "Holding Tank" previously, you don't have to enter the password again.

@yobud - I looked at your post history, seems like you have posted a political statement a time or two.

This is the holding tank - designated place for topics such as this. I believe if you contact the administrator, they may be able to remove this forum from your newsfeed.

I didn't enter a password to get in here either. Didn't trump say "Mexico would pay for the wall"? I think he said it at least 100 times. He also said "I will own the shutdown". No?

Similar to "If you like your doctor you can keep them". Not going to defend any politician of either party.

I do agree with the physical barrier - it works. Works all around the world.

What I see is political maneuvering.

Trump took ownership to start the shutdown - when Pelosi said she would not consider the "immoral" wall.

To blame Trump for the current state of the shutdown is not correct. If he is wrong and doesn't represent the will of the people - then Congress can pass a resolution which is veto proof.

Say that there is disagreement - fine. But don't blame it on one side...

Yep, better coverage, for more people, and 'it's not going to cost any more'

I am not defending politicians either, however, if anyone thought Mexico "paying" for the wall meant the IRS or military going to Mexico to get the money, and how else would you get it if Mexico was literally paying for it from their treasury, think again...

I've said the same thing many times. When he first said it I thought he meant thru tariffs, tolls, taxes etc. I find it hard to believe people thought Mexico was going to write a check

My assumption was it would be withheld from their foreign aid. Like a deduction on a paycheck.

Deal reached....sounds like a paid vacation to me. Then it all starts over again on 2/15. Who's the winners and losers here ?
