Got to love fall boating

I pulled my boat on Sept 30th. Normally its after Canadian thanksgiving weekend (which is this weekend). And this has been one of the warmest Sept/Oct in a few years.

This AM I am outside sitting by the pool in our backyard reading the paper and CSR having a couple cups of coffee. A beautiful morning. Temps at night have been around 60 for the past few weeks. Its about 65 now, sunny and no wind (at least by the pool). Supposed to be sunny and low 70’s most of this coming week. The pool is closed now too. Probably would get very little use so we close it before the leaves drop.

Yeah, I wish I was on the boat this AM. So a bit jealous, but life issues dictated the timing this year. Oh well. At least I can have my morning coffee in the back yard for another week at least. Enjoy the time on the water guys.

Feel you brother, just covered my pool. Everyone always asks me why we bought the boat. No idea except this.

Pictures you posted are great, thank you.

I love fall boating, we are on the west coast of of Florida, for us September through early January is most fabulous boating time of the year.

Headed to Ayala Cove, Angels Island in SF Bay for the wife's B-day weekend, 5 days after a historic Bomb Cyclone as they called it, we now have weather in the 70's. Hopefully we will enjoy a nice Indian Summer weekend. Pictures will be posted. First outing on the 506 on a ball so we will see how well the inverter/ batteries support life on this beast. This is one of the few wonderful things we like about living in CA still. We will be in the heart of the land of fruits and nuts but won't even know it:)
Fall and early winter offers some of the calmest seas on the bay all year long.
Carpe Diem

Left for Ayala cove on Friday morning, had to wait for the fog to lift then had a spectacularly smooth ride across the San Pablo, two nights on the hook, several hundred dollars spread around the Tiburon proprietors and Corinthian Yacth Club and then a great ride home. Best part, absolutely zero boat glitches!
Love fall boating!

Great photos....Looks like you're being stalked by your old boat in the last pic;)

what a area, Alcatraz, Golden Gate, and etc. Seems like a great boating area.

Close, that is my buddy’s 420 and next to him another friend’s Meridian 411, we still cruise with our local SeaRay folks. We were only a mile from where the Carpe Diem lives now though.

When did you return? Would have loved to meet you at Benicia and checked out your ride. Give a shout next time you pass by, we are in Benicia most weekends.
Carpe Diem
We just did a day trip to visit friends for lunch in Vallejo. We have been trying to find 4 or 5 days that we can get away and explore a few places in and around the bay. I thought about cruising over to Ayala Cove and paying you a visit.

There was plenty of room! Rain check

Where was this, the hotel? I am in Richmond, VA looking for a weekend getaway.
Yep Best Western, River Escape in Dillsboro NC. It was packed! Asked the B-Fast guy why so crowded for a weekday he said “leaves”. I like them but Yikes to spend money and not be on the boat?!? I’ll take the boat.

Joint Custody will this rain/snow system on the west coast help lake Powell any at all.

Carpediem, Many years ago I was in Benicia dredging the boat basin. Just up the street was the old museum that used to be the Courthouse I think. Anyway in the yard next to the courthouse was the most gigantic and beautiful wisteria forming a huge canopy. Is it still there and growing?

I go up and down First street often but honestly, I can't say that the arch you are thinking of has stood out to me. I'll look for it later today and let you know. The old court house is still there for sure as well as many of the historic buildings. Benicia is very serious about preserving the history and quaint ambiance of the downtown and water front area. It is one of the reasons we love having our boat there as a weekend retreat.

I really wish it did. Those waters dont flow our way. We need the weather to fall on the Western slope of Colorado and west of the Continental divide in Wyoming and Wasatch front in Utah. So far we are not off to a good start for snow pack we are all hoping that changes in January and February. If not Utah Colorado Wyoming along with other west states will be hurting bad come spring.

We did have a wet October and they are saying that is good because all the ground last year was so dry lots of the snow melt and run off went to ground absorption.

Right now our marina at Bullfrog " North end of the lake" is taking a wait and see. Best case is we stay same location worse case they move the marina across the channel to HallCrossing and that will add a 1.5 Hour drive for us coming out of Utah.
Park services and Airmark will make that decision in February.

We are at 30 feet under our slip as of this weekend. Usually this time of year we are at 80 feet and then when run off hits we go to around 100 feet.

Here is a cool link that shows all rivers in the us AND THE LAKES THEY FEED.

We were there during the summer and on weekends sitting under that wisteria covered arbor when it was hot as blazes was great. If I remember correctly the courthouse was stolen by a group that came by boat from down the bay and took all the records by force and that was the end of Benicia as county seat. Sorry about the distraction from the topic of this thread. Old times got the best of me.

Joint custody, How is the ferry making out up by Bullfrog?

Currently the ferry in not running and has not since May this year.
The ramps they use to dock on either side are to shallow for the ferry to draft. The army core of engineers where at the lake last month and they have found new locations to dig new ramps. DOT and Airmark are ready to go however just waiting on park service to sign off on it from what I hear.

We hope it will be in operation by March 2022.
