So Santa brought me a nice GoPro for Christmas this year.
Looking around for "needed" accessories for boating.
Anyone have any accessories and brands that you find useful for boating?

Thanks much!

Diff entry the suction cup mount and the bobber , we take ours in the water all the time , I've got the grab rail handle mount too, all are neat .

Boltman

Yep, for sure the suction cup. Used the most:

Bar/Rail clamp:
I have also used this clamped on a 3 foot piece of rail tubing with a wrist strap for underwater footage without getting wet.
Good tool that way for quickly checking inboard props/rudders for damage/growth/etc.
This was shot with my older gopro on the rail set-up: http://www.midwestconnection.org/images/misc/boat/forum/GOPR0082.MP4

One more, the handle - helps with hand-held shooting, great for underwater too. (scuba diving)

D&D,

all of the noted accessories are good.

I would suggest you play around with go pro studio to edit your raw footage. There is a lot of on line help, and some good user forums.

One last tip, lick the lense if you are in salt water to avoid water spots in your footage.

Thanks all!
I am starting to play around with the GoPro Studio... aint that easy!

Anyone have advice on an SD card?
I am confused on the numbers... argh!

Not sure which model or edition you have, but with the Black edition you have the remote (or you can use the app on your phone) to control your camera hands free. I prefer the remote over the app, as it is just easier to handle when you have your hands full controlling your machine.

I am new to boats, but use my GoPro with all my other toys and that and the rail mount are the two best additions I can think of.

The remote for sure, I forgot about that. Best feature, you can easily control it and know what it's doing from a distance.
Added it to my Hero2 and it came with my Black edition Hero3.
Hero 4 is nice because the remote actually lets you power down the camera (and up) to save battery life.

Wayne, thanks for that link to the accessories. I picked one up to go with my Silver edition which I'm just learning how to use.

Cool, I thought it was a good deal, 12 pieces for $21 bucks.

Im using PowerDirector 12 for my video editing and find it much better tha the GoPro stuff.

As far as the remote, I don't use it. It eats up too much battery time. I have mine set up on a one touch on that seams to do much better on battery length.

Lastly, I got a Smatree extension pole for Christmas but, haven't used it yet. Looks like a good piece of equipment.

As others have mentioned there are tons of accessories on the market.

Look for new accessories to hit the market in Mid-Late April. That's when NAB takes place in Vegas. (National Association of Broadcaters Conference) GoPro has a large presence at the show and it's often a time other vendors come out with new accessories.

If iyou're ever going to put your GoPro in a really crazy place several companies make cages to keep them safe.

Enjoy the camera. They are a lot of fun.

Agree, go pro studio is marginal and crashes quite a bit.

Has anyone tried Sony movie studio 13? A lot of people on the go pro forum mention it for advanced editing.
