Today was the last time I had a chance to take my 240SD out for a spin. :smt089 :smt089

It's been sold and I hope the new owner enjoys it as much as we did over the last four years. She still looks brand new even though we put over 300 hours on her. I took great pride in keeping her clean and shiny and properly maintained. The grandkids and their friends had countless hours of fun being towed behind her on tubes. And we enjoyed being able to do that for them just as much as they enjoyed it. As I opened her up one last time on the lake today, I was still amazed at how quickly she planed and how fast she will go. Quite a difference when comparing her to our 260DA. I know one shouldn't look back but I will really miss this boat. I almost didn't want to let her go after taking her out today.

This summer will be quite different. We hope the grandkids and their friends can still enjoy water sports behind the 260DA but realistically, I know it won't be the same for them. :smt009

I took one final picture of her at the dock waiting for the new owner to Sea Trial her.

Dave,

Congratulations on the sale or is it sorry to hear about the sale. I know that financially it is probably a great thing. She sure does look clean. I see the water has not improved that much. Again congratulations and I know you have made some new boat owner a very happy person.

They just picked up my 260 Friday. :smt089 I know the feeling. I never feel that way with cars - but it was hard to see the old 260 go. I knew that boat inside and out. I had waxed the boat recently and my 260 still looks new. Most people thought my 260 was an 05/06.

But then I climb on the new 320 and then I say wow this boat is huge. It's just hard to let something go that you have maintained so well. But hey the 320 is a whole new era for me. The service manager went over pretty much everything with me. I have to say the Marine Max Service Department has been treating me like I am their most important customer. Which in today's world is very nice. I wasn't expecting a whole lot - but the service manager went over every concern and wants the boat to look how I want it to look when they deliver it next week.

I will say that S-R's internal QC could use a little tune up. They left a lot for the dealer to deal with on my boat. But - no complaints so far.

The water is just fine. That's the river that Augustus Gloop was drinking out of when he fell in and got sucked up the giant tube. :smt100 . Anyway.... Dave, congrats on the sale and I know what you mean. It's hard to part with something you care so much about. At least in my case my "old" boat (2004 260DA) is still at our marina and was sold to a great family. I still get to look at her at least.

That is so sad Dave. It reminds of the first time I saw "Ol Yella".

Richard...........don't worry........ I won't feel quite so sad once the check is in my hands. :smt043

But I truly am going to miss that boat.

Dave,

Hate to see another Sundeck go, I hope you told them about CSR  Congratulations on the sale,

I won't feel quite so sad once the check is in my hands
Just wait until it clears the Bank

Oh! You were paid! :smt038 Well shut my mouth.

And here I was feeling sorry for your loss. :smt009 Silly me. :smt021

Sorry Dave I am trying to type words on consolation . . . but I can't get over that brown water - is it water??

Dave, I'd give you a towel to the wipe the tears from your eyes...but then I remember you will be cruising shortly in your new 260DA. Life sucks eh

Seriously though, I know what you mean...

There is a solution. Market your old boat on SRO. Meet a great family who are interested. Make a fair deal and work with them on the survey. Clean the boat top to bottom and do some helm time with the new Skipper. Next thing you know you have made a good friend and you have another family to spend weekends on the water with..and to jabber about boating with in the (sigh) off season.
Worked for me. And when I get the Admiral prepped for the big Sedan Bridge, I know one guy who will know my 420 almost as well as I do, and who has some diesel 420 helm time to boot.
(Chris, not a word to the Admirals...they'd kill us both)

I just had a idea. :smt101 We need to come up with a note book of lines on how to get the next boat approved by the admiral. :smt017 We could market it and make a mint.

Dave,
Great news!! I just checked every current edition of the “Rules for Guys that Boat†and it never states that we must only own one boat at a time. In fact, there is no limit to the number of boats we can keep!

So, if you haven’t cashed that check yet……….

Hey, wait a minute. I thought the rule was
1 boat
2 jet skis
3 4 wheelers
4 motorcycles
5 computers
6 big screen tv's
7 model air planes
8 model cars
9 model boats
10 shucks....I ain't got any more room in the garage. :smt021 :smt089

Why does the 24 Sundeck have two (2) windows. One is for the head; whats the other for? Storage?
