One of my projects this winter is to transform a golf cart I bought a few weeks ago from an ugly duckling to a cool cart to run around the marina and put it on the island we go to all the time…. This thread is to show its transformation….. In the mean time we need to see pics of your golf carts…
Here is what I am starting with…a 2012 Yamaha gas G29 Drive

We have a cottage at the marina so we use carts as the transportation on the property. Here are my 2.

Yea I sold my 2012 with 1100k miles on it. But my buddy is delivering one I bought in PA this week sight unseen except pictures. 2019 Grand Sport LT2, Sebring Orange. 3250 miles on it. It be here tomorrow.
Oh, sorry off topic. We do have a 2004 Club Car thats gas with a small utility bed on it.
I bought it brand new in 2004 for around $4k, it has raised 4 grand kids that has wore it out. I'll get a snap of it next time I am at the barn.

We do the same with our cart... use it at the marina and ferry it over to PIB or KI when we're there for more than 2 days.

Make sure you get the DOT rated tires for the inspection for plates. Also need seat belts, a windshield, windshield wiper, horn, turn signals & lights and mirror, if you didn't know already. Make sure the governor is all the way on for the inspection because if they clock it going more than 19mph, I think, they'll fail it.

I went into the Marblehead police station a couple weeks ago…. I told the officer be patient with me I am a little nervous this is the first time I have walked into a police station voluntarily :) ….he laughed. Turned out he was the chief of police, he gave me his business card and said call him any time and he would certify it. He gave me a list of all their requirements.

This thread has made me think. A golf cart is a helluva lot better investment than a vette. It gets used a lot more instead of sitting in the garage all the time.

I think you have to sponsor the site to store pictures on the server (and see the upload option).

    No golf cart... sorry.

I did mine the hard way - here's a pic when I took it to the island for inspection! That was a long time ago though, and options for mainland inspections were slimmer. The PIB cop didn't know the criteria, so I pointed-out all the expensive add-ons I installed. As long as it has working lights, they'll never look for anything else - particularly if your cart is obviously not a rental.

I also plated mine way before Ohio ditched the requirement for a front plate. I have a Club Car that came with a small rubber front bumper, which I threw away. I think I'll replace the front plate with a brush guard this winter.

A tip for island transport: drop it off at Miller's "freight" office. It cost about $4 LESS than driving it on, which I can't explain. They'll just take the keys, put it on a ferry usually sometime that same day and they'll park it with the keys in it for easy retrieval behind their warehouses on the island (Lime Kiln property). A similar process works in reverse in the fall, but there's no dedicate freight rep. I ask the booth agent to freight it and they usually just have me drive it down to the loading dock and leave it. This fall I actually handed the keys to Billy himself! They don't leave the keys in the cart in Catawba, and there are about 4 places they might stash them. I learned to put a key finder on my keychain. (Apple or Tile etc)

Guy across from my marina has a lifted golf cart with similar wheels. I think the rear area also was configured with a cargo bed. He uses it to tow his jet skis over to the marina ramp. I looks less like a golf cart now than one of those off road buggies - Razors, I think?

@RollerCoastr …just a heads up I used that same trailer to bring the cart 4 hours home. The trailer has a very stiff suspension and hitting a bump it cracked the windshield… I had it folded down but next time I will take it off

Oh bummer! Yeah, I've been using those trailers since '09 - they're definitely beasts. The only issue I've had though is the cart can bounce around in them and scuff against the sides. I bet they'd ride better with less tire pressure?

I used to fight cinch straps to secure the front while reaching down over those high rails, until I found self-winding versions at Walmart. This fall they started to fail and Walmart no longer carries them.
