Glomex TV antenna

hmmmm, ok, where's the switch at or supposed to be? I have a feeling it's set to route cable and not the antenna.

The CATV/AIR setting is in the TV and is usually changed via the TV's menu system. I don't think it could be the CATV/AIR setting because you say the rabbit ears work ok - they would have the same issue if it was this setting.

I think that TT is talking about the Glomex itself, not the TV.

On my 330DA I remember that there was a switch behind the TV itself that went between CATV and Ant.....maybe some other 280 owners can help.....

There should also be an AB switch on the Glomex amp, if you have this one:

This allows you to feed another signal such as satellite or dvd thru the amp to simplify wiring. Having this switch set incorrectly would cause what you describe - as could wiring it incorrectly.

Also, don't forget the very basics....are the cable ends on the Glomex antenna and behind the switch itself tight, clean and correctly installed....?????

Ok, I'm going to hunt for this mystery a/b switch. I do have that amp and i know the previous owner did hook up to shore cable.

Is the amp knob free turning? mine just spins with no stop on either direction.

Ok, my day of boat fixing today. I finally got that piece of junk Glomex antenna working today. Many things wrong with it.

first, the connector to the back of the TV was schetchy so I put a new one on.

Second, the amp knob was toast. It had cracked a little and wasn't grabbing the pot on the amp, explained why it was just spinning. So I stuck a little silicone in the knob hole and it gripped away.

Third, the solder joints on the antenna where they connect to the cable had corroded away and broke. a little rigging and some new solder and bingo bango. works. well for the most part. I get 7 stations now and the A/B switch and amp works. I still need to clean up the antenna mess a little more but at least it works now.

If yours isn't working I would first go take a look at the antenna. I had to cut away a good portion of the blob of silicone covering the connection. once I cut away enough, I saw that the solder joint was gone and the wires were a little brittle too.
