I have the original frisbie stlye Glomex. When the boat was being shrink wrapped, the installer took the antenna off and broke the connector. I don't want to replace the amplifier, cable, etc,... just the antenna. Will all Glomex antennas work with the current amplifier? Do I need analog or digital? The TV is a new flat screen.

Also on the same subject, if I were to put another TV in the cockpit, where would I split the cable?

Thanks.

I've replaced mine twice over the years. Each time I got the best deal on just the antenna at http://www.cyber-bridge-marine.com/Glomex-Antennas.html

SR has a splitter installed behind the antenna gain control already. This is how they allow for CATV and Antenna Signals to come in. I started there as its where the Glomex antenna cable ends and the distribution to the TV(s) begins.

Thanks for the replies on where to get them, but what should I replace the original with? Can I only replace it with the same one, or is there something newer or better?

From what I have heard the difference between the Digital Glomex and the Older Glomex is that the Digital version has a sticker on it saying digitial ready. Also the newer antennas are made of a different plastic that holds up better to UV. You can confirm with the manufacturer to be sure. I have found Glomex support to be very good. On my boat, the splitter and AMP are all one in the same.

Also, the Glomex has a lifetime warranty so if the break was due to a part wearing out, they may replace it free.

Yes, they are all digital. We have the 14" unit. Just pick up one of those replacements and your good to go.

Does it matter if I replace a 14" with a 10"? Jim (BOE) has a 10" for $70.

It will reduce your signal range/quality. With digital you either have a signal or don't...so it would impact the distance at which you can aquire the digital signal.

I have a boomed antenna and I have never used it it. Whatbia it for?

What a cooincidence. My marina did the same thing to me when they shrinkwrapped mine. They just twisted the top off and broke off the coaxial cable connection. Its a relatively simple fix, but makes me angry to have to do it. The worst of it was that it was unnecessary since the shrinkwrap did not come near the antennae.
