I know that this has been discussed before but I would like to return my antennae for a new replacement. I have on very rare occasions received a weak signal so I know that the cables are run properly, but living only 30 miles from NYC the signal should be stronger. Does anyone have the Glomex contact information? Also what is the procedure for removing the disc?

Your antenna should just be held on with a small lock bolt. After removing need to detach the cable (will need special long reach wrench). My reception varies from day to day however I did find all that none of my coax connections were tight right from the factory and after tightening reception was much improved.

Just google search Glomex and the info comes up. You can send yours in for repair and they will more than likely send you a new one ( that's what they did for me).. They will send you the correct wrench (small pc of black plastic) to screw you cable back into the bottom. by the way you will want to more than likely replace you coax fitting as mine was very corroded.. You will need to speak to someone at Glomex to get your RA number. Btw you might as well plan for cutting you cable off your old one right at the base. You will need a set of allen wrenches to get your old one off the stainlees steel mast.

Thanks guys, I have gone thru all of the coaxial connections and all are tight. I will reach out to them and arrange to send in for repair or replacement.

I know this is probably asking the obvious, but not everyone knows. Did you turn the antenna on? Adjust the gain to high?

When I bought my (first) Sea Ray I didn't know they had an on/off and gain switch. It was hidden inside a salon cabinet. OK, OK, so maybe it was only me who was so uninformed.

Not a issue, my amplifier is functioning, Glomex asked me to check that the TV is scanning on digital and not analog. I will check that again and then send it back if needed.

Contact Terry (male) at from IMTRA (imtra.com). They just replaced my 14" TV antenna under the lifetime warranty program because the plastic housing was stained with the dreaded black streaks and had started to get rough / pitted on the surface. I was originally calling for cleaning tips, and also to find out how to reconnect the thing, but he volunteered that they have been known to replace things for free and to give it a shot. The shrinkwrappers pulled the coax end off of the cable because SR doesnt install any service loop or slack in the cable. I also have added an extension so that I will be able to reconnect easier, and not get it ripped off next season.

I sent it on Weds, it arrived to them on Thursday, new one on the way Friday, arrived this Monday. Will be interested to see if it has any different markings or part numbers indicating "digital" or analog... I personally dont think it makes a difference, but am no expert.

Have been in touch with Ray at IMTRA, he will be sending me shipping information for repair or replacement, hopefully I can pull antennae this weekend if the rain holds off and have it back for next weekend.

Digital Signals are line of site. If you boat in a low valley. Signals may be harder to receive. Digital signals are good to about 65 miles with a good antenna. The Glomex is a UHF antenna good to about 30 miles. So you can get most stations with it.

After I removed the antennae from the arch I disconnected the cable and the connector end fell apart in my hand. I cut the cable, installed a new connector as well as a two foot removable length of cable and tried it out, now have great reception. I will clean up the "saucer" and reinstall.

Just spoke with Terry and he is sending an RA number by email. Keeping my fingers crossed they approve the replacement. Radio antenna is really bad. Glomex dome is pitted and can't be cleaned. Hopefully reception will improve on both units.

When they sent us our new one there wa a sticker on it that reads "Analog/Digital". The reception wa much better then it was with old antenna.
we are about 88 mils from Rochester, NY and about 60 miles from Utica, NY and when we are att the marina we pick up digital stations.

The TV antenna doesnt have to do with Radio. You might want to open the access hatch on your radar arch or remove the speakers in the arch if you have them. When I was working with the guy to install my radar we found a random wire with a connection end on it and didnt immediately figure out what it was... reaching around inside the arch, we found the other end and it ended up being the radio antenna. Reconnected the two pieces and it worked 10x better. On my boat the antenna was draped down the starboard side of the arch and the connection was above the speaker hole which we were reaching up through to get the radar cables.

Lastly, on my boat (as others have mentioned) there was N-O (none, zip, zilch) slack in the cable to connect to the underside of the glomex. Do yourself a favor and get a small piece of cable cut off the end, fish it into the arch and then reconnect it so that you can easily work with the antenna. The shrink wrap guys had pulled the end off mine trying to get the antenna off.

My tv reception is not all that much improved with the new antenna, but it looks a ton nicer aestetically. If you keep it waxed it wont get pitted. I do that for my radar dome housing and glomex now ever time i wax. I do get an additional 5-8 stations in most places that I didnt before. Unfortunately most of the anchorages where I go, they are kind of shielded by trees and/or hills.

I find that OTA digital TV reception varies quite a bit day to day. One day I'll get 11 channels, the next day barely 3. I can't complain though, since the website that shows coverage says that I shouldn't get any channels at all. I know it's not the antenna, cause I'm on my fourth, or was until I sold the boat. Three Seawatch 2025's and finally settled on a 2030. My new boat has the Glomex, but I haven't hooked a digital capable TV to it yet. We'll see for next season.
