I saw Frank W's comments on the Glendenning on a different thread, but I didn't want to hijack that thread. Frank mentioned he hates them because they are often installed in the way and they kink the cable on each rotation.

On the 44DB, they are not in the way (they are in a locker in the cockpit that is blocked by the removable seat), so that is not a problem. BUT, they sure do seem to twist up the cords. Is there a fix or mitigation strategy for that?

They are just like a windlass.....every revolution tends to twist the cord one as it is laid into the tub. The trick I have learned is to untwist the cord as you pay it out before you plug in. It gets to be a habit, at least at your home dock where you pay out the same mount of cable every time....you kind of get used to untwisting the it the same number of revolutions as you go to the power pedestal.

I said I didn't like them.......but I try to make the most of what Sea Ray gives us to work with.

Wait for a warm, sunny day and pay out the entire length of cable on the dock and let it warm up in the sun. Untwist it, etc. (Now's a good time to use the Magic Eraser on it.) After a couple of hours, retract it into the boat while carefully watching the twist and 'lie' of the cable. Ever since I did this several years ago, mine has worked very well in all conditions except below freezing.

I had several problems with mine after I replaced the cable. The more I pay out the line, the better it gets, but I did noticed that the PVC pipe is probably 1.5" too short, and sometimes the cable twists out of the guide. The old cable was much more stiff and I never had that problem, but I just put the pretty white cable in and it is more flexible so it happens more. I will change out the pipe when I get back to the home dock and hope it never happens again.

Mine trips the breaker regularly, especially on cold days when the cable is less flexible. Anyone else suffer from this? I'm guessing i have a bad connection somewhere but haven't checked propoerly yet.

Mine will trip the breaker if the cable meets any resistance as it feeds out. I have to make sure it doesn't spool up against anything in the trunk.

Hey Guys, I can relate!

My CM will tend to work flawlessly when recovering the cable, but when feeding it out, the first 15-20 feet constantly stops from back pressure. A few yanks and slamming in and out and retry and it pays out another 3-4 feet.

I'm trying to find if there is a adjustment to the sensitivity of the interrupt. Anyone know?

When this thing works its great.... when it works

You got it. Dutch Porn Star. That's good.

A Glenndenning Cable Master is a motorized system that feeds and retracts the electrical cable for shore power in and out of the boat. The 50A (and God forbid 100A) cables are very cumbersome to handle and store. The cable master makes much easier work of it.

I'm going to suggest an answer to my own question. The cablemaster docs at the link provided above (thx for that) say a 20amp DC fuse is needed. According to the wiring diagram from SeaRay, there is a 15amp fuse supplied. The wiring is 14 gage, which is also used for other 20amp breakers so that should be OK.

<Edit> Update: For comparison, I looked at the '06 48 SD wiring diagrams. For the CM it has a 20amp breaker specified with 14 guage wiring.

I've contacted Glendinning for confirmation.

I'd be proud..........

Ok, for the ignorant Icelander(ME), please let me know what Glendenning is.

Well... when I first saw this thread, I thought it was going to be a scandal story about our former Governor, Paris Glendenning, involved in a porn scandal.

But he is such a weasel that nobody would want to watch him "get busy" anyway. :smt043

All I got to say is I pity the fool that tries to search this site for any information about this subject..........

Glendinning spelled at least 2 ways

And Dominic, you aren't fooling anyone......you know exactly where Hoffa is.
