Glass wine glasses – looking for recommendations

We broke 4 wine glasses onboard last summer. We tried plastic; it just does not taste the same.

Has anyone found rugged wine glasses?

I use the type without a stem. I agree on the plastic taste issue! :smt009

We have Lenox wine glasses and they are advertised as “unbreakable”. Well we have not broken any yet, but then again I have not tried to throw any against the wall. Very nice glasses though; in fact I had my friend custom laser engrave out boat name and logo in them.

Do a "Google" search on Lenox

If you have a Total Wine near you they have nice stemless for considerably less than I've seen other places. Last set was $10 for 4 - they have red or white. Make good mixed drink glasses as well. We've gotten used to plastic as I just try to avoid the glass on a boat - beer bottles are tough enough but I've not seen glasses that thick.

I am picturing you do some sort of dance at night, arms crossed and legs kicking in the air. Then at the end smashing your glasses. Maybe you need to calculate the number of glasses of wine you've had before you drop it and then drink one less glass. Oh, I also agree with using stemless glasses. We use small Tervis Tumblers. Is the ice off the Lake yet?

Is the ice off the Lake yet?

The water is open but it’s not safe.

I was at Jim & Linda’s in Pipe yesterday. We looked at the Wharf by Columbia Park. There was ice on shore to about 10 – 12 feet offshore. The entrance to the Wharf was blocked with ice.

In my opinion, to be safe I’d give it a good week or so.

If you have a small beat up aluminum fishing boat it may be fun to put around.

We did see people surfing off Blue Harbor in Sheboygan yesterday morning. They had full wetsuits complete with hoods, gloves & booties.

Bed Bath and Beyond have these glasses that are crack proof they were made so that they wont crack in the dishwasher they will hold up better than a regular wine glass

That polycarbonite crap sucks. Wine doesn't taste right unless it is in a wine GLASS... and a correct wine GLASS. Put wine in a glass beer mug and it tastes like sh!t. Put wine in a quality wine GLASS and it tastes much better.

The Bayliner guys know this... they put cheap crap in a fiberGLASS hull and it tastes just fine.

You think I'm wrong? Put Jessica Simpson in a Victoria's Secret night gown vs. some homeless clothes....

Just buy the glass and if it breaks... oh well... sorta like ripping the underwear off your wife vs. taking them off.
