Hi, I have just finished my winterization and I got the Merc Spline grease (blue) I found the Zerc fitting at the rear and of course The rubber cap missing.
How much do You put in. I pumped the gun 8 times. Is this enough? (new gimble bearing installed last year while the motor was out.
Should I see the grease overflow anywhere? like when I do the Trailer.
Thanks. John G
PS. I will be checking but is there any other grease fitting?

Wait for the experts, but to keep you and I both entertained in the mean time, I think there's a fitting on either side. I would at least hit them both if this is true. I couldn't see mine when I did it. I globbed it in there and never noticed any goo flinging around.

You should not see the grease spill over anywhere unless you have a hole in the bellows....Most of the excess will accumulate in the bellows and can be seen when you remove the drive.
If done on regular intervals I believe that 8 pumps should be plenty

Merc makes a specific grease (or at least they used to) for the gimble bearing. "Gimble bearing and U-joint grease"
8 pumps should be plenty. That's the zerc outside the boat on the transom assembly that usually has that little cover on it that you say is missing.
The spline grease fittings are inside the boat on the engine coupler. as stated above, there are usually one on each side of the coupler and they are about impossible to see. I had a 4 foot hose on my grease gun that I used on those fittings and would locate them by feel and hold the fitting on them while the admiral would pump the gun.

Sounds fun but wasn't that distracting? (Oh yeah, and -1 for bragging).

If possible, apply gimbal bearing grease while motor is running to get a good distribution of grease to the bearing....does not need to be in gear, just running.

So, I got the special spline grease and put it in the Gimble bearing Zerc. oh well. now I will search for the spline grease zerc on the Motor coupling inside the boat.

I grease mine while the driveshaft is turning also. I not sure it makes any difference but it can't hurt.
