Gifford's shooting

The author and people like him need to get their heads out of their collective asses and realize that until they learn to BEGIN a discussion without assuming that everyone with a different point of view is not "sensible", they are doomed to never reach agreement with anyone.

Hahahahahahah That quote is sooooo funny.

There are lots of people making lots of money off of the concept that those that don't agree with them are not "sensible".

We agree? Do you feel ok? I feel ok. Just checking.

Don't feel like hanging in the smelly place tonight. Want to talk about boats instead? Or Football?

I'll bring some cigars and a platter of oysters.

If you wear the tutu, I'm bringing my neighbor's obnoxious, smelly nephew Freddie and telling him that you kicked his dog.

ooooohhhh. . smelly nephew Freddie. Do you think he would like the Tutu?

Fair enough. . I think the thread on "civil discourse" was kind of doomed anyway. Cigars and Oysters it is : )

There was a guy there who was a CCW holder on scene with his firearm. Joseph Zamudio was next door in Walgreens buying cigarettes when the shooting started. He dropped what he was doing and ran toward the sound of gunfire. If I ever meet the guy, the beer is on me.

Here is an interview he did with Fox News. I love his mindset.

It’s telling that the Fox News chick was horrified that he had a gun.

Here is an interview Joe did with Geraldo:

Thanks for this post... I had not seen those interviews. He definitely made some good/quick decisions, but was ready to stop the shooter.

Hey gang, look at the profile. The guy is looking for sensationalism. Just like so many before him. He cut his hair off today and the media went wild. They are just waiting for him to act out so they can have a collective orgasm and he knows it.
He has stated no cause for is actions to keep everyone guessing.

As for those calling the rhetoric an issue, it's been happening since Lincoln and will not stop any time soon. It's what happens when wacko's believe that there cause is justified even if their cause is self glorification like this nut.

How will we stop this? Give up every freedom so we can feel safe. Be afraid to publicly assemble because I may piss someone off and get whacked. Leave me give you a clue, whack away because I’d rather die free then live a b***h of the state. Just one thing though, make sure you take me out because when I get up I’m coming for you.

My friend congressman Heath Shuler was quoted today that he carries and has recommended his staff get concealed carry permits and start packing. He's on the other side of the isle but he's still my friend and I respect him for his gun stance.

Yeah, 17 years ago I bought a convertable. A bit before they became really fashionable and common. My folks thought I really needed a fancy alarm for the hot new car. . .which had no protection for my valuables.

After looking at the alarms, and having a salesman tell me that $500 model was better than the $350 alarm "because its just better"; I decided NOT to live my life in fear. I didn't get no stinkin' alarm. 17 years later. . .no problems. And the amount of computers and cameras I routinely leave in the car would make your head spin.

At the same time. . I am not stupid. I don't drive in Yonkers or down near Temple in Philadelphia (the place where license plates are kept in the car, not on the car).

Still . . .99.99% of people are fine. A stupid alarm. . .or a gun. . .is not real protection against the 0.01%.

Ya I am waiting for the hunger strike next :( Let the bastard starve!

Comsnark, Of course alarms and guns have protected people. You really believe they have not?

Errrrr. . . ok . . .I am going to backup. That is not what I meant

My point is that I do not live in fear. I don't need guns and alarms to make me feel secure.

Okay. But feeling secure and being secure are two different things.

Everybody has a different threshold for fear. What is required to feel secure varies by individual as well. What true risk we face for danger is irrelevant of the previous two sentences.

I hope all of us and our families are safe.

The shooter is clearly a nut job. I don't believe he was influenced by anyone accept his own delusions. I do feel for the victims.
It is disturbing to watch the media having a hay day and relishing this evil deed.
To seek stifling political view and controlling arms will do nothing but let evil thrive unabated.

One of the most powerful leaders of the world was not shot by a gun but stabbed to death by his friend. "Et tu Brute?"

If someone there had a CCW permit there would likely have been less carnage!

In the state of AZ, we no longer need CCW's:smt038. Oh how I love my state. Guns don't kill people, people kill people, and I can't believe there weren't more people there, packing to take this guy down, but just like my truck getting broke into in the middle of the day in a crowded parking lot, nobody wants to risk their own neck to help others out or do the right thing.

"Sheeple" would be a good term.

Thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and families.

Lets not forget those that did help and get involved.

I have not watched the coverage on this on purpose. They have the guy, we know what he did, now convict him.

I did watch the segment on the little girl on GMA this morning. So sad, I had to turn away. Very few people have ever seen me cry.(It's not a "man" thing it's just me) Glad they weren't in the room this morning.

To not cry for the Child and her parents would be unhuman!

I am still looking for the proof that Palin caused the shooting. Pray for the victiums.

Within hours of the attack, I heard media talking heads and politicians blaming political rhetoric. I still have yet to see a connection, left or right, to political rhetoric being a motivation for the killer. The guy was nuts.

Weird that I didn't hear political rhetoric being blamed for the VT shootings or the Fort Hood massacre. I wonder what the difference was.

I actually heard Rush and Glenn Beck specifically blamed for the shooters actions. Really? I've listened to both for many years, (I actually have the Glenn Beck Insider Forum open in another window), and I have yet to hear anything to support those claims.

Prayers up for the victims and their families.

One would have thought that the people that knew him would have raised some concern and got him help or at least alerted the authorities. Everyone they talk to that knew him said he was nuts.

I hope the best for the families affected.

Same could be said for several past murderers, like the VT shooter. I don't know how you tackle that problem. Jared Loughner obviously had some serious problems.

If you creep me out, can I force the authorities to have you picked up? (You're fine...so far..:smt001)

You are correct... its not that easy. But could he have been watched closer? Probably, especially if they knew he had a vendetta toward Giffords who was appearing 5 miles from his house.

I thing being weird or creepy without persecution is part of who we are as a country. I know there are cases that need reporting and should be but again I'm not going to give up my right to being weird just because it may creep someone out. Hey I study the occults and cults. That can be pretty weird but I'm not going to go postal on anybody.

It is a fine line that we walk when we promote freedom. Where you draw yours is different than where I draw mine.

If you read my previous post you know how I feel about this guy but we can't just start locking everyone up without overwhelming evidence. That's the price you pay for the freedoms you have.

IMHO
