so we are very excited to finally have the boat in the water.
We are on a steady learning curve, and figuring out the characteristics of the boat.
I'd be interested in some opinions about one thing though.
I'm presently on the hook enjoying the Boston view after a quick rip past Boston light..something weird happened though.
When I trimmed the drives up (about 1/4 on the analog gauge) the boat steadily lost speed and rpm's. I mean, we just slowed right down as if something was dragging us down.
2' seas, headwind, aprx 22-24mph, 3400 rpm.
I stopped and visual inspection showed them both where they should be.
I put them down all the way again.
Verified both engines/drives running correctly.
Got back up on plane no problem.
Tried it again and same thing...
When I first picked the boat up, I operated the drive trim and was totally normal.
What I'm thinking is maybe I was going too slow today?
When I did it the first time, and it worked fine, I was 38-43mph.
I don't think I should have to go so fast though.
Any ideas?
Twin 496 mags
Bravo III outdrives.

I can't speak to your exact boat, but my 280 hates drive trim unless I'm really moving. When just planing at 23-25 kts if I trim either drive anymore than 1 click on the smartcraft display i can feel the prop start to lose bite. Traveling 30+ kts I can trim up to 2 or 3 max, at 4 i start to lose bite again. I have alphas, which may be more sensitive to trim, but my boat definitely doesn't like much at all, the rougher the water the less it likes it.

Does your boat refuse to identify as a particular model or is there really a 330/350 model out there? For the record I think this forum welcomes all Sea Rays and is outstanding in terms of diversity and inclusion. You don't have to be afraid to pick the one model you're most comfortable with :) Or even be model neutral :)

Based on some of the threads I've read you were probably going to slow. I think your outdrive powered rigs like to cruise at a bit higher RPM than the v-drive crowd. Perhaps at 3400 she wasn't quite ready to get up out of the water.

With the same load and conditions you should be able to recreate this if it's speed related. If not....no clue.

Yeah it's most likely the speed/conditions.
Just seemed weird.
And the whole model name thing is kind of annoying too. I'll admit, I don't want any confusion as to which one I have.
Having said that, wheather it's here in a forum, or in a sales ad, Ive seen people refer to their 2009 310's as 330's..in 2010, 350 was re badged the 370. The 330 was now the 350, and the 310 became the 330. More closely matching their LOA's. and though they are very similar boats, they are also very different.
So I find myself making the distinction sometimes..it's more than annoying when someone advertises their boat for sale as a 2009 330 when it's really a 310.
First world problems

My 330DA does not respond well to trimming the engines. If I trimmed 1/4 I would slow down and start to porpoise. When I'm on plane I give the trim buttons two short hits. I pick up a couple hundred RPMs and little speed increase but a better angle. The gain is so minimal I often don't bother. My boat is smaller than the OPs but the hull design is very similar.

That's what I'm feeling and seeing also.
It seems a lot better when I'm moving faster too.
Sooo much more boat than the 260 DA I was used to.
