Getting the dinghy ready for summer

Nice boat! I love having a small center console inflatable to run around in. We use ours all the time to just pop out on the lake and anchor by the sand bar for the day.

Great looking dinghy Jeff, would like to see a pic of it on the back of your boat.
See you around town soon!

Contemplated selling our AB and going to the Walkerbay. Not loving the AB brand. All of their stainless rusts.

Finally someone I can relate to!!!

Well...that was only half true. I do have all the parts ready. I've just got to launch, then get pulled out again, to get all the bits installed this spring. Hoping for sooner rather than later :)

My Walker bay is holding up well after 2 seasons and about 75hrs. There are a few things rusting like the stainless decorative cover on the stern light socket but the major components such as cleats, tow eyes and handrails are holding up nicely.

A dockmate has the LTE which is aging much nicer than my AB. Pretty much every piece of stainless has rust stains running down the fiberglass. Even the steering wheel has to be cleaned with Flitz once per month to get rid of the rust.

That is too bad. I like the look of their boats too. The biggest thing that attracted me to Walker bay was the open layout with no bench crossing next to the console. Makes it easier to move around IMO.

Ohh I like (even need) that bench/cooler. I was drawn to the Walker Bay initially because they have the absolute smallest center consoles I could find with 5 person capacity with a "real" console. I thought I wanted a Highfield but really didn't end up loving the euro-style console.

I've got 3 youngish kids...and a dog. A whole lotta bodies to fit on a small inflatable...:)

I like that newer designs are putting the fuel tank in the front of the hull. Better weight distribution and use of space. I guess a bigger problem if the tank ever needs to be replaced or repairs. Always a trade-off, unless that is addressed in the design.

My Avon has the bench seat beside the console. It is a useful seat, but the fuel tank is located there so no cooler.

I always looking at RIBs because we will replace ours when we start distance cruising. Something smaller and lighter. The one we have now is essentially "the kids' boat".

You’re scaring me with this post as I have a 2021 Ab VSX 10 on order coming in any day now.
I'll make you a good deal on mine...LOL. One other downside is the 3 gallon fuel capacity. Mine is a 2019 not sure if they changed this on the 21 model , but we have a 30 tohatsu and I'm always thinking about how much fuel I have remaining.

I bought 2 tanks just in case

Well we launched the big boat and the little boat this weekend. Had a great time all around. Wicked windy all weekend but it was good to be back.

So far I have to say I'm super pleased with my Walker Bay. I loaded her up with the 3 kids, the admiral and a full tank of fuel. Runs like a champ. She'll plane a bit slower going into the wind but I'm very impressed for a 25hp with a full family onboard. It's a very different kind of dinghy cruising coming from a Zodiak with a 3.5hp :) I think we'll keep her.

Here's to a great 2021, fellas!
