Thought I'd start a new thread about AquaPalooza prep and what you do to get ready.......

Here's what we have planned;

Jello Shots, and Lots of em...Wife makes the best.....Plenty of whipped cream too.

Kids; Still trying to get rid of them for the night, so Mom and Dad can have time to let loose. (don't get the wrong idea, but even Moms and Dads need a little time alone to maintain their sanity.

Mood Lighting; I've seen numerous posts about blue lighting, but for me and my crew, Red. Upgraded all of the cockpit lighting to red LEDs, and the main ailseway light is selectable between white and red. Looks great, but I still have no place to hang the Disco Ball and Stobes....

Menu; A splendid duck pate' appetizer with a main course of tender filet and lobster. For desert we have the Bannas Foster. All prepared by our master chef and resident El Capitan, Andy.

(Actually, we'll be having a potatoe chip appetizer, folllowed by beer brats, and Keebler Cookies for desert)

Accomodations; Have scouted the area and have a splendid riverfront slip (actually located about 40 yards offshore) that will allow for guests to lounge and mingle in comfort with the neighbors in about 36"-45" of water. Comfortably deep yet invitingly shallow and smooth.

Entertainment; Ipod loaded (AC/DC, Steely Dan, Santana, Red Hot Chilipeppers, The Cure, Kid Rock, Garth, Dire Straits, etc, plus some of my wifes crap, I mean music.....), Sirius activated, not too loud, not too soft, but just right.

Fuel: Topped off 60 gallons worth last week when gas was $3.95 a gallon. ( now it's selling for $3.79. Ain't that a b--ch)

Guest List; Don't have to worry about the guest list, cause everyones invited........

What do you have planned?

Andy

condom's, you might need those.

advil, that's what i prefer.

A strobe light of some kind, enhances the mood.

Soap, can never have too much.

a camera to take pics

Some cash just in case

marbles, you never know

...tieing up next to you guys!
The wife and I are giving the kids to the grandparents on Friday night and picking them back up on Sunday. We are getting our list together of what to bring and we'll be at Aquapalooza too. Where is the slip you got?

Not a literal slip, but just a nice spot close enough to the shore to be shallow enough to touch bottom, but far enough away not to be deafened by any bad/loud music coming from the stage.:smt001

Yes, we were too close to shore at Rockin' the Docks. Even I (who grew up with stereos blasting) thought it was far too loud.
Anyway, I am sure we'll see you out there on Saturday. I hope we don't have another squall like at Rockin' the Docks. I didn't like the 25'+ houseboat that went past me dragging anchor and the people onboard not knowing/caring that they were about to play bumper boats as they created a path through everyone. She came within 10' of my bow. :smt013

Know how you felt.

Last year, we learned our lesson about getting too close to the stage, but luckily we re-anchored before any permanent drain bramage occured.

As to the storm, we were out on the fringe, and I was just snapping on the last piece of camper canvas when the squall hit at Rockin the Docks. It was rather fun to watch all of the folks in the ski boats, bowriders, and deck boats try to hide when the winds started blowing. I even saw a few golf umbrellas go up. (no offense intended on the bowrider comment)

There were a couple of big boats that lost their hook out on the edge of the cove, but there were only 3 of them rafted together at the time. One of them dropped loose and went elsewhere and the guy without his anchor out, was the one powering up to keep away from the other folks. Must have took them 30 minutes, and 3 tries to re-set.

Everytime they'd think they were good, they would start to slip. You know what they say.... Big Boat-Small---------.:smt017

Anyway, last years AquaPalooza was pretty low key. No storms or drama, just good clean adult oriented fun......

When the rain started, the admiral and the two kids crowded up under the passenger dash with a long blow up raft over them. I stayed up and watched out for drift and-more importantly-other boats drifting. Luckily, I stayed put. I didn't have the canvases in the boat-left them at home that day. All we had was the bimini I keep them onboard now, even if the weather says only a 20% chance of rain. One gentleman on a 41(ish) footer invited the admiral, kids, and I to come over to his boat when it started up, but by the time I got the anchor up, it was letting up. Wonderful gesture, but the rain was over quickly. We thanked him anyway and he left after cut his anchor line. (The loose houseboat got tangled up in it and nearly hit him. It was lucky they only got tangled.)

Know how you felt.

Just what we are looking for. Nothing wrong with the kids, we enjoy having them out there too.. we just want to have a bit of fun out there without them for a change.

Anyway, we'll see you out there. If you don't mind a newbie to the area, we may stop over if we see you.

I believe that was a 40' Gibson plowing through the raft up when the front rolled in

If it was the one with all the women onboard, that's it. It didn't seem like 40', but the visibility was limited when it went by. I ended up diving to get the other guy's anchor line out of their prop.

I did hear some scuttlebutt about a tangled prop.....just glad it wasn't mine.

Decided to add a couple of things to the AquaPalooza Menu.

Bacon Wrapped Shrimp....
Lil Smokies in BBQ Sauce....
Hot Italian Sausage ( i'm not italian and not that kind of sauasage)

I also decided to take our "aquaglide". (thats an 8'x8' raft), that should keep the kids occupied (and the adults happy).

Other than that, we should be on the water by 11am.

Stop by Matt if you see us.

Just look for the Pirate "Give up the Booty" flag and a "Beer Mug" flag underneath.......

Just wanted to post a couple of the pics from Aquapalooza. There's even one of Pirate's Booty showing he has a little Captain in him.

How may boats do you guess showed up? Scott

Great Pics! I really like the one of your boat against the sunset.

You could have warned me you were takin my pic so I could suck my gut in.......

Andy

Wraparound reflective shades -- best for oogling, since you can turn your head away a little and it doesn't look like you're staring straight at them . . . .

Uh... sorry. Didn't even realize you were out there at the time. (Read: Vision was a little fuzzy. :smt119 )

No way... Um, I never realized that. :smt009 (I guess I'll have to get rid of mine now before the admiral reads this!)
