Looks like we have some tentative plans for another "Carolina Gang" CSR weekend gathering. Plans are to hit the Georgetown area and north along the Waccamaw/ICW. Anyone interested, chime in with requests and suggestions. Thought we could meet up at Georgetown marina. That way those that wanted to head out to an anchorage that evening could do so or there would also be slips or hotel available for others. Sat we could head north on the Waccamaw stopping at an anchorage somewhere just south of Barefoot Landing area. Again, that would give others an option of going slightly farther north to a hotel or marina for the night. Sun head back towards the landing at leisure.

I'm interested, count me in. I do already have a play date from the last of June thru the 4th of July weekend though. Most other weekends I'm available, unless something comes up at work.

Thanks for posting the pics Sadler. We went yesterday and actually found the lighthouse on North Island open! I have been several times but is was always locked up. Beautiful view ofrom atop the lighthouse of Winyah Bay and the point at where the ocean begins. It was a very calm, clear day. The bay was smooth like a lake and we braved just a little distance out in the ocean where you coulda gone for miles. Seas were barely 1ft. I would have loved to have gone by ocean to Murrells Inlet. Perfect day to hug the shore. Maybe Mike could pilot us in for that trip someday. Dont feel confident enough as I have never been that route. Andwould feel more comfortable having seatow and being in a group.

Lets see if this works. These are pics from a couple weeks ago on the Black River which feeds into Winnyah Bay at Georgetown. This is wehre we boat frequently. Deep fresh water and closest pull to a landing for us (45mins).

Great pictures! :smt038 Love the turtles. That sliding board looks to need a little more water under her, but other than that I'm game. Looks like a really great area to boat. Was the little boy in the peddle boat towing you or vice versa? :smt043

Are there any problems getting up to that point from Georgetown, say in my boat? I've been up the Black River, but turned around before Highway 701.

The trip sounds like a lot of fun. Sure wish I could join you all, maybe next time.

The tide was low in that shot. It is a tidal river and in the narrow areas, you can really tell a differance. Imagine at high tide your butt would not hit. It is a beautiful river. The blow boats cant get up past the bridges and I noticed in my book yesterday that Claiborne Young has not reported on it beyond 701 bridge which explains why theres not alot of traffic other than locals. It is pretty deep. Very few areas around 9ft. Most of the river is 15-40. You would have no problem going all the way past Browns Ferry which would be about a 2 hr ride from Georgetown. You would enjoy it.

That little boy ventured too far from his home and when the tidal current picked up, he was peddalling hard but going nowhere. Was glad to accept our offer to pull him in. lol

Chuck, come on whenever you can. We can prob get free at least for a day trip or can try to coach you through the area. But are you saying you cant make this one too? We might have to renig on sneaking you into the "Carolina gang".

Until the North GA Mountain Real Estate market comes back I'm just having to take it day by day.:smt089

One of these days I'm going to get the whole ICW done. I've already got routes laid out for most it.

Hey what this about
We might have to renig on sneaking you into the "Carolina gang".
I was in SC most of the weekend and nobody from CSR was there:lol::smt043:lol:

Chuck, actually, I think Kes just wants you to come so that while you're gazing out at the beautiful scenery, she can pry one of your oval window trim rings off to replace the one they lost last weekend. I've glued mine on.

No, seriously Chuck, there's nothing like a little time breathing salt air and taking in the ride up the ICW to give yourself a boost. Hope you can make it.

Got ours replaced already :) Didnt glue it on though.

Sadlers boat is a bully.

Nah, you guys got it all wrong. Sweet Dreams rushed things a bit and snugged up a little too close to Hey Babe on that last raft up, and HB had to take a little bite out. Lucky it was only a trim ring and not something lower down.
