My generator works fine when I manually switch it to on. But when I set it to auto and press the remote button in the galley, the red light comes on but the generator does nothing and I get a code that states "C1". I see nothing about that code in my manual. Anyone have any idea's?

What is the make and model of the generator?

guess i should have included that! It would be the kohler 5ecd with the advanced digital control.

I have the same generator without the remote gauge... I don't see a "C1" in any of the manuals I have either. There is a "CO-1" for carbon monoxide shutdown, and a "1" for high battery voltage.

I don't know if there is a correlation to Westerbeke or not. I have to do "something" (it's in the manual and the manual is at home/boat) to the switches on the gennie to transfer full control to the panel in the cabin.

i have generator and same problem...I can turn it off with remote switch, but not on.

What is your error code?

We have the same boat, a few tricks I have learned:
1) Take the back seat up and there is a port hole cap that when removed allows you to see the error code... don't have to raise the engine hatch
2) The error code can be reset by turning the aft battery switch off and then back on, allowing remote start again... don't have to raise the engine hatch to reset
3) Turn the main generator switch in the cabin off and wait 5 seconds before turning the generator off - this prevents the LOP code which prevents having to do 1) & 2)
