2007 280 Sea Ray Twin 4.3l Alpha A with Kohler generator
Engines
2-350 Mercruisers Outdrives
Took delivery of a 2007 sea rain 280 in the Spring. Generator was working fine. Over the summer dealer installed a new water heater and that was the extent of any activity till I just returned down. When I tried to start the generator nothing happened at all. Thinking it was a dead battery went to bilge and saw a switch on the generator Run-Auto. Pushed it to run the genny started briefly then shut off and the code LOC came up. I have owned previous boats but this has got me stumped

Make sure the through hull valve is open so the generator can pull water through to cool. There is also a sensor that detects water flow through the generator that can get corroded and stay in a closed position so the generator doesn’t know water is flowing. You can replace that very cheaply.

Do you think they could have closed the sea cock during water heater install?
