Hi I have a 1996 Sea Ray 270 Sundancer with a Kohler generator I can’t get to start it’s firing but not starting seems like there is no fuel going to it we replaced spark plugs. Any ideas ? Does generator have it own gas tank ? Or a valve that maybe shut off I’m not seeing ?
Help please

Thank you I’ll look through Manual

Broke choke is a common problem. Make sure it closes and turn the water off until it starts

Thank you we will give it a try

Make sure you have installed the right plugs. If it was working before and now not working, try putting back the old plugs or buy the exact ones listed in the manual. I found out the hard way that there are plugs with very similar numbers that will drive you nuts. Same symptoms you are having...

Also, how much fuel is on board? The fuel pickup for the genset is set higher than the ones for your motor/motors. If you are below a quarter tank you might not be picking up fuel. Sorry if this is basic stuff, these are two things that drove me nuts with my last boat.

How strong is the spark? When was the last time it had a complete tuneup? Have you bench tested the coil?

Tha happened to a friend of mine and it was the filter. Changed it and all it well..

The electric "pulse" fuel pump on my Kohler generator died once. If you are not getting fuel to the carburetor, it could be the pump. An easy and inexpensive fix! Good luck!
