I want to upgrade the rubber wrap steering wheel on my boat to a stainless steel but I'm worried in direct sunlight that the stainless might get too hot has anyone ran into this problem or any opinions?

I've never noticed my stainless handrails being to be too hot to touch after sitting in the sun all day?

Great point I don't know why I didn't think of that thank you and I'm not being sarcastic I feel like an idiot.

Hah. I didn't even think of that as a silly question.

You know, aside from heat, I'd wonder more about glare. I have a couple pieces of chrome trim in my truck and NOTHING drives me more bonkers than when the sun hits them just right and reflects into my eyes. You may need to add some drop down visor's :)

I had the opposite problem with stainless wheels. Before I owned boats with autopilots the wheel used to make my hands so cold when cruising across Lake Michigan I needed gloves to stay warm. The wheels do not get hot. They get cold.

Had plain SS wheels in the past. They get HOT! This one is rubber wrapped and it’s much better, but look into these. I put on my cars and they are great. You have to thread them, not like the slip ons at auto zone.
