My boat developed a crack in the gelcoat along the front edge of the arch when we were transporting it cross country last fall. I've been anxious to repair it and finally had some decent weather last weekend. I used Spectrum Patch Paste - I couldn't be happier with the results!

I used a Dremmel tool to clean up / widen the repair area and applied the paste according to the directions. After the first coat I sanded with 220 grit. There were still some low spots, so I applied another coat. (drying time between coats was about 1 1/2 hours for me in 60 degree weather). When the second coat was dry, I sanded with 220, 400, 800, 1000, and finally buffed with a power buffer.

The repair is virtually invisible! I'm excited to touch up a couple more areas when I get a chance! Spectrum has a great, easy-to-apply product with stock Sea Ray colors. It sure is nice when things like this work so well!

Nice work!

I've had similar success stories with the Spectrum product.

How did you figure out the exact color you needed? I need to do a repair on my platform.

Call Sea Ray support with your Hull ID.
They will pull your build sheet and tell you the original Gelcoat Vendor's color ID.
You will call Spectrum with that Color ID and they will give you their part numbers.
You can then order through IBoats.com online (takes a little over a week).

Keep in mind the color they will give you is the original color and your hull will vary slightly because of aging.
If you have a white hull you probably never see the difference in the sun.

Uused the same product and it is GREAT stuff and very easy to make a ding disappear.
I used it on 4 dings and all gone be patient wet sanding.

Kevin has the best approach. I ordered through IBoats and found that there are 2 different versions of the white used on my year. I was able to google the part number and find that they switched from one to the other somewhere midstream in their manufacturing that year (based on serial numbers). I ordered the one that applied to my serial number and it matched. Interestingly, I was working on my arch, which is noticeably a different shade than my hull. I got lucky with the match, I guess!

Yea I used it also. Can't even see where I fixed it. Mines a 2004, Gotta love the Meguires Marin wax too....wax1.jpg

During the year early 2000's they seem to have two vendors (at least) for their "Artic White". My previous boat was a 2003 260 Sundancer and it was Artic White from Valspar. My current boat is 2004 340 Sundancer and it is also Artic White but from Ashland so I had to order another quart for the new boat. While I did not need a quart I found the gelcoat does seem to last several years if properly sealed. Just need to shake them up to keep the color consistent. I always have some available to touch up little nicks etc (you never know what you catch when you are docked up against a pole).

@mnm99: Looking Great! I just finished hittin the entire hull with Buff Magic on the rotary followed up by the Meguires on the DA. I loved the way it came out and the finish Meguires left.
We splashed last weekend so now I just need to finish up the deck and up.
