Hey guys I have a 2002 Searay 182 BR with 190 hp.
so this year I did a oil change and run the engine with the muffs on.
Once I changed the oil I noticed that my gear lube reservoir was pretty well empty. So I topped it up right to the operating range level.
well this weekend I took the boat out and it ran like a charm. Started up like always on the first start and away we went.
I was on the water for around 4 hours but i only put maybe 30- 45 min on the engine in total as we like to sit in the middle of the lake and go swimming.
Once we were done swimming we took it for a good rip a mile or 2 down the lake and turned around and came back. I got the boat up to a good 47 miles a hour and decided it was time to get off the water. As I was coming in towards the boat launch (3-400 yards away from the dock)I pulled the throttle back and slowed to about 4-5 miles a hour which is when my buzzer went off. I instantly looked at all my gauges. And everythig was running at perfect temp and pressure. I shit the engine off pretty quickly . And did a further inspection.
I looked in the engine housing. Noticing I had no leaks of any sort. I close up my engine compartment and started the boat up. Buzzer was still on and I drove it slowly into the launch and loaded up.
I took the boat back to the campsite . And looked it over a bit more. I noticed that my gear lube reservoir is next to empty again.
I topped the Reservoir up to operation range again and pulled the boat home.
I got home and hooked up my muffs and started up my boat in the yard.
I let it run for a good 15 min and trimmed up and down a bunch of times and turned the steering wheel as far to the right and left as I could go about 20 times. I shut off the engine and check my Reservoir again and it’s right on the line.
would anybody happen to know what the heck is going on? or is there any mechanics in here that would know what the problem could be.
I was thinking it could be the reservoir hose that runs back to the leg.
And I put a paper towel up right in onto the hose and we’re Connects into the engine . Turned the engine back and forth a bunch ! And there is no blue oil on the paper towel.
I’m just hoping that I don’t have a deal blow on the leg or anything like that.
Would anyone know what the prices would be to have those seals replaced if that was the problem.
