I have noticed a very small amount of gear lube on my driveway under the drive. It seems it is leaking from my pitot hole on the front of the drive. What might be causing this? Seal? Would pitot have gotten plugged with water still inside and froze. (My mechanic says that this is unlikely and almost impossible). Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Mike

There are 2 oil seals between the upper and lower housings.
Have you ever had the drive separated ie, removed the upper from the lower?

Maybe the seals are leaking or if it was recently done, possibly didn’t seal correctly?
They are O-rings that just sit in grooves.

Check it part number “MCB3SK” on Michigan Motorz.
Those are the 4 seals needed when reinstalling the upper/lower housings.

FYI the small orange oil seal sits right next to the black tube like seal used for the pitot passageway.

Thanks so much for the reply. I will pressure test the lower unit. If we are losing pressure, then I will split those halfs and check the seals and look for any damage. (The drive have to my knowledge never been split).
