Gas tank in 1991 220DA

I have a 1991 220DA with the 4.3 LX engine. We were on the Mississippi River and everything was fine. Then the engine wouldn't go over 3000 rpms. We changed the fuel filters, it didn't fix the problem.
We had a valve that we could switch to a six gallon can. When we switched to the 6 gallon can, it ran up to full rpm's.
The pick-up tube must be partially blocked before my valve and the main boat tank.
My question is-- 1. Where is the tank located?
2. Is is plastic or metal?
3. How hard is it to remove the tank?
4. how hard is it to remove the fuel
pick-up tube from the tank?
Thanks Tom

1/4 of the tank is right in front of the motor, the other 3/4 is in the aft cabin. If you lift the cushions, you will see the cover that you need to unscrew. I have not had mine out, but it looks to be aluminum or galvanized. I would guess that you would need to pull it into the cabin and then out the door to get it out.

I don't have an answer for you but I have a question. Was the engine running smoothly at 3000 rpm on the main tank or was it acting like it was starving for gas and acting like it was going to stall out?

The tank will come out thru the bilge. There is a panel going up the bulkhead in the aft cabin that needs to come out also.

I'd put my money on a clogged vent, rather than a clogged pickup tube. A clogged screen will create a partial vacuum in the tank and prevent the engine from drawing fuel.
Check the vent screen to be sure it's clear.
