Hello,
gas gauge is dead on the port side, is a 310 sundancer, how can I test the sender? Any ideas? Thank u

First I'd check the gauge wiring for +12v and for a good ground. Then next you need to determine if it is the gauge internals or the sending unit.

Disconnect the (pink) wire from the fuel sending unit and ground it out, the gauge should now read full. If that works, likely the gauge is ok, so now test the sender. The easiest way to test the sender is to use a decent multimeter and measure the resistance between ground and the connector where the pink wire was connected. For most US fuel senders the range is 240ohms to 30ohms or so, where 240 would be dead empty and 33ish is a full tank. It is basically linear between those values.

If you have easy access to the fuel sender or at least reasonable access this is all fairly easy, if you don't no worries as it can be done from the back of the gauge with the sensor (pink) wire disconnected. Just make sure the gauge is disconnected from the fuel sender while you are doing all the testing, otherwise the results are generally not valid.
