But I have to disagree with you.
Having been a member less than a year does not make you an expert on
Gary's posts.
Not only do I find them entertaining, but more often than not, very informative.
I have gotten a lot of great info from Gary both on the forums and through PM's.
That and the posts on his family vacation had me checking CRS way more than I should have, for updates.
And yes I will order and read the book and pass it on to friends.

And by the way I for one, and I am sure others on CSR would love to own his
"Old Man DB Design"
Get some bigger engines and think about diesels on the next boat.

Oh and by the way....
Most of the computers I use and deal with daily have a spell check...and in most languages if you do a little checking.

Gary and I started out by butting heads. I am not a cronie. I, too, believe that sometimes some people seem to act that way, and some times it's embarassing. I don't see that in this thread. What I see in this thread is the mob mentality. I can understand it to some degree, but come on. I think it's a little over the top here. Any guesses as to how much of this thread is still around tomorrow AM?

This stuff is sooooo over the top that I wonder. Gary hasn't been around very much lately, and now these relatively new guys post violently against him. I wonder how many pseudonyms he actually has. Is he stirring the pot all on his own?

Not judging anybody by posts. I haven't mastered the multiple quote thing yet, so, I'll have a couple in a row some times. I guarantee you I haven't contributed 400 helpful posts let alone 4,000. It means nothing.
Yes exactly, I ran right off to my service department when I ran my batteries down because I was stupid, and told them they must be wired wrong, come fix it.
Has anyone else noticed that the few very knowledgeable people on this board are not posting much these days. Maybe they are getting worn down by answering the same question over and over again because no one knows how to use the search button… Or maybe, they just don’t feel like helping out anyone that uses the info, and then calls them a smartass for knowing the answer. Either way I'm betting they don’t care.

I also like his writing style. His humor reminds me of Seinfled. Cynical yet accurate.

Are you guys actually defending Fresh Water and BK? first of all, Fresh Water is Wingturd. Wingturd has been to date, the only person ever to be banned. That should tell you something right there. BK doesn't even own a Sea Ray, pretty clueless in most things but still spews BS cause... who knows, he likes to be verbally spanked I guess. My guess is he'll be the next to be banned, at least i hope so.

I have never met Gary, but this site has probably saved me at least $1500.00 in marina charges/bills because of the knowledge of many people. I was able to trouble shoot problems and fix them myself. It is awesome to have a network of people who have experienced the same problems and issues and make my problems go away without getting the marina on my boat. As I said, many people have helped me including Gary. This site has also allowed me to network and meet new people at various islands in my area. Gary introduced me to blogging through his own travels and many of us followed that blog daily. We wanted more and now that he is writing a book, we want to read it. Gary is also one of the few people on here that up front said any sales from his book on this site would go to the moderator. Many people on this site slip in "free advertising" of their own products and agendas. Not Gary. I started this thread, not Gary. As I said, I dont know Gary, but he has made this site a better forum for all (most) of us. This forum is about learning, helping, networking and yes, entertainment. I thank the moderator/owner of this site for providing such a great venue for not just Searay owners, but all boaters.

+10 I wish to thank Gary a few Franks and some others here. I know I have asked some inane questions at times, but I have manged to learn from the replies I received back.
I for one read the posts and and weed out the chaff.
I do not recall Gary naming himself as the supreme one, but give the devil his due, typically when he provides an answer it is well thought out and usually has photo's.
And yes he has chapped my hide on a few occasions, but there is an old saying about "water off of a duck's back," I just ignore it, and I will at times send him a PM with a question, Which he usually replies back to with an answer.
I would rather learn, not spurn. :huh:

I think people take themselves to seriously. I did that when I first joined this web site. I've learned to enjoy the diversity here and use the knowlege here to my advantage and realize that not everyone whom posts here know what they are talking about. Gary is a character and I personally like his humor, even when he focused on me once. ( I said something stupid).
If you go back and review some of the latest posts, it is "others" attacking Gary and the G man responding. I applaud him for trying to make this place humorous and a great learning tool. I think he is very knowlegable about what he responds to.
Here's a question for you. Do you find yourself clicking on a thread when you see Gary has responded? I do! I know what I read will probably make me laugh my butt off. And, and if you really read what he posted the correct answer to the question is there also.
My opinion at the expense I might be called a Gary kiss ass. Whatever, I just like to laugh.

But Wingless did give me laughs too - especially all the copyrighted pictures of the 110V outlet in the gas engine bilge! But he deserved to be banned for the poor advice.
And when I have to do my duckbills, you can be sure I'll be praying Gary will answer my PMs!

I've gone back and read this whole thread and I don't really get it. Someone put up a post asking about a book and some writing and all of a sudden it invokes me being a "jackass", someone from Arizona saying I didn't get laid in college and my career is ruined, and another guy talking about sucking d*cks, my boat is ugly and his infatuation with Kearney.
