Garmins Homeport Software

If that's the case I would just get a 2nd card and leave it in the PC.

So I see that Homeport is $30 and that is the same price as the map sets in Bluechart Mobile on the iPad. It looks like they are somewhat similar. Has anyone used both is there a reason to go with one or the other. I am just looking to set up some routes before I head out on the Mississippi etc.

I have used Basecamp (and Mapsource) a ton on my offroad motorcycles and they work ok for saving tracks etc but the routing is manual etc. What can Homeport do that Basecamp can't (that makes it worth $30)?

I downloaded basecamp and it doesn't seem to have any waterways stuff.

You'd need an extra SD card slot to leave it in there. It's fine. I just pop it in when I need it.

Made a bunch of waypoints and a route at home on the software, put it on the card and uploaded it to the plotter today. Worked out great.

Any Mac users? I have a 6208 and a 5208 unit on my boat with latest firmware, new g2 vision card.
I purchased homeport last week, went to boat and waited forever for maps to download to fresh format 2gb sd card.
Tried to get homeport to load maps but it does nothing automatically when I put sd card into computer and when I hit import and click on map file it tells me it's in wrong format.
What am I doing wrong? Thanks
