Garmin xHD or xHD+ with Garmin GPSMAP 942XS Plus

If your relatively new to these electronics, do yourself a favor and go with Garmin if you can swing the XHD radome go with that.

Pretty much looking at Garmin. I like the Simard radar better, but the garmin is definitely easier to use. This was based on playing around with the 2 units next to each other at WestMarine.

one of the thread I read (way back) is using harness to combine the data from both Jboxes or link both boxes. Not sure if this is applicable or not in your case. This was dependent on the engines and how they are connected to the J-boxes.
Thanks. I think that is what the multi link kit is for but I have no personal experience with networking on a boat. We are working through the issue with Garmin and will report back.
I will add that I have Garmin on my Grady (2 GPSMAP 740S and Radar) for 10 years and have always been happy with the ease of use and reliability.

from your note, it says multi link kits, are you referring to the VesselView multi-link kit? or the multi-link harness? Since you mention you have the Gateway Can P, I'm assuming only the link harness. I would be interested in pics on how they are installing it.

I'm not sure what the multi-link kit does but I have been trying to help expedite a solution through a contact I have at Garmin so I asked for all the parts they are using on my install. I will try to get to the boat tomorrow and see if I can get pictures of the set-up but worst case I'll ask for more details on the multi-link.
