I'm looking for a garmin data chip for a Garmin 392. I could use just the blank data chips. Unless someone has Lake St.Clair and Lake Erie (great lakes) already programed

I think other models also took the same chips so others may work. Thet are basiclly the Garmin data chips before the went to sd cards

Anyone that may have one let me know

The 392 has built in inland lakes maps. So why not Lake St. Clair and Erie? https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=168&pID=374#specsTab

The built in pre-loaded maps can't be updated w/o a special updater card from Garmin. I'd recommend you get one of those before they discontinue Bluechart later this year.

Yes you can use charts on a garmin chip, they just don't get loaded up into the built-in memory, only work when the chip is in.

The PC based maps are unlocked against the device ID of your unit, so they aren't transportable across devices. I have Lakes Ontario and Erie, but not St. Clair. Besides, against their license agreement as well.

my 392 does not have preloaded maps. I bought it when it first came out and they were not included. about a month after buying they started coming preloaded....pissed me off..grrr

Better to get pissed off then pissed on, I always say.

Did you call Garmin and complain? They may be able to send you a chip. Worth a whine...
