OK, feeling a little bit "duh, how did I miss this" about BlueChart.

Long time user, love it, and have posted about my experiences.

I have always had a bit of issue with the lack of detail on the charts. Not nearly as much details as Navionics for example.

Now that I have Garmin Chart plotters, digging in.

Missed this before. Under settings - chart options - you can select the level of detail that is displayed on charts. By default I was on the middle setting. Changed it to very detailed - all of a sudden I have what I have been missing.

Everyone else probably already knows this - but throwing it out there in case it helps anyone.

I remember when I was playing around with all the bells and whistles on my Garmin plotter, with BlueChart, that I thought the level of detail should somehow be able to be linked to the scale you were looking at. If you're zoomed in to a very detailed small portion of a chart, you'd want all the details, but if you're at a larger area scale, doing big picture navigation, you might want less detail to make it more readable. You're right though, when you put it to very detailed, there's a tremendous amount of information available. Something I never thought I needed, but comes in handy when coming into a large marina you've never visited before is clicking on the overhead photographs icons and having a photo pop up showing the layout of the docks.

I have the new app, but v10 was released the day after I put the boat into storage, so I haven’t been able to play with it yet.

The impression I get from THT is that 10 is a major upgrade, with a few bugs buts lot of new features..

At FLIB's the Garmin person was showing me Active Captain on the chart plotter. They said it was next version. Is that 10?
