Good day all. At the end of the season my helm seat would rock severly back and forth and even sideways! Its almost like sitting on a top! Ive tried to raise and lower it, but it seems something is either jammed or broken in the support pole itself. It appears that there is a sleeve that is not rising when the seat is being set to a high position. If I lower the seat to its lowest postion, its fine, just when it is at the higher positions it wobbles terribly. Any suggestions?

Have a look at this thread. Similar problem to your's.

Best regards.

Thanks Melinda,

I saw that in a thread search, but his problem was creaking and I believe he fixed it by inserting twist ties into channels on his pedestal. My seat doesnt have the same channels on the pedestal. Its a solid pole.

Watch out for the little screws. I think they are 5mm. I bought replacements for the broken ones at West Marine. You may want to take some photos as you disassemble. Once you drill out the broken screws and put it back together (use locktite on the reassembly) you should have a seat with no slop.

I got a replacement gas shock from the manufacturer rep Aegis-Hahn. He'll need all the numbers off the cylinder.

Something like:
