Galvanic Isolator Location

We have a 2002 240 DA with a 5.0 BIII. We are battling some corrosion issues with the BIII. As part of the process of elimination does anyone know where the galvanic isolator is located on this vintage 240 DA. The schematic for the boat does show that one is suppose to be on the front end of the A/C just after the main shore power connection breaker.
I have run the A/C from where it emerges from the backside of the stern locker all the way up tp the A/C main panel in the cabin and can't find it. The only thing that I can figure out is that it could be behind the divider in the stern locker that the shore power plug, shore power breaker, are mounted to. Can anyone confirm this.
Also is there any know test routine to confirm that it is working when, and if I do find it???
Any commentary would be greatly appreciated.

Things go better with boating,

Jim

That's where mine is

The only way it can cause corrosion is if it's shorted. You can test if it's shorted with a ohm meter, if it's less than an ohm, it's likely shorted. But this can be tricky, some ohmeters will misread this by apply too much voltage. Plus if if it's not shorted it still might be bad.

Your best bet is to take it out and have someone knowledgeable check it. I'd be surprised if this was your problem. They are pretty rugged.

Are you equiped with the Mercathode system? that might be the fault.

I purchased a silver/silver-chloride electrode and have tested the voltage potential in the water. The voltage is coming in within spec for fresh water at between 940mv and 1020mv. The Mercathode seems to be responding well as I switch differant loads on and off so I think I can cross it off the list.

Thanks, I just have been wanting to verify that an isolator does exist in the system and where it is. I tryed to pull the divider out to verify but it was going to be quite a project to get it pulled loose enough to see behind it.

This winter I am going to completly refinish the outdrive and start out next spring with magnesium anodes and add a prop nut anode. Hopefully this will bring the corrosion into check.
Thanks to all for your help!!

Jim

Jim,
DIdn't notice you were in fresh water. Are you docked near any steel hulled boats? I'd strongly look for stray voltage in the water. fresh water usualy doesn't do that to an outdrive.
