Fusion wireless remote install

Awesome. If its just filling the hole would you be interested in me sending you my old one to fill hole and sending me yours to replace it. I would take everything as a spair unit

Is your old one in good "cosmetic" shape. I dont care if it doesn't function. The admiral isn't gonna let me put a eye soar in her new boat.lol

Yes. In great shape. Just only works some of the time. My Admiral is sick of going to the cabin to lower or raise volume. You have no idea. I live in nj. Cell # 732-904-4257. Send me a text and we can figure this out. You just made my day. Been looking for about a week and didnt want to drop a g on a bew system

Marquespa pc,
Any help on the radio and remote. Going to be working on boat this weekend and can send out my remote to you. Please let me know.

Thanks for the write up. Just bought a Fusion MS-RA70NSX head unit and one of these remotes. Hope to install this weekend. Simple upgrade to get Bluetooth! Lol. Replacing the Clarion XMD1 head unit in my 400DB. I will Be removing the wired remote from the helm, too. That’s where this remote goes. When I get around to adding NMEA and upgrading my MFD, I’ll control it with the plotter too. But not ready to bite that bullet yet.

If someone it still looking for a remote (and an XMD1 head unit and XM665 CD changer), let me know!

This sounds like a great way to add flexibility to the Fusion system. The manual says the bluetooth range is 33ft. Does it maintain solid control at distances close to that or have you guys found that the effective range may be less?

Mu head unit is inside the cabin area, and mine works fine standing on the swim deck so I would say that would be pretty accurate with my system. I would think the mounting location and what's between the phone and the units libe of sight would also play a factor

I added (2) of these to my 240DA. One on the dash replacing the old Clarion POS and one on the swim platform. So easy. Great addition for not a ton of $.

Question...if you're NMEA2k'd up to your Garmin MFD, why would you need this remote at the helm? Makes sense further aft in the cockpit or at the swim platform. But isn't this redundant and not as functional. Not being adversarial - just wondering if there's some advantage.

Well, one reason might be to cover the hole in your dash that you now have because you used to have wired remote there.

^^^^ HAHA! Good point. I have a dead one in my dash too! Kicking around the idea of replacing my Crapion with a Fusion.

My Garmin 840xs doesn't allow media as an option for split screen, so if I want to see my charts or sonar, then I have to press a couple buttons to change volume etc. By having an arx remote at the helm I have instant access to volume and can change station or tracks and still be able to see my position or depth. Newer Garmin units I think allow you to have media always accessible.

Got it. Makes sense. Thanks. It looks like my 8208 could be set up to have a bar that controls basic functions, viewable in any screen. I don't listen to music while underway so I'd probably not set it up this way, if I do go with Fusion.

Yep, if you have an 8208, you wouldn't need it like I do. Certainly works well for the back of the boat, I think I'm getting another one in white for the swimplatform. I boat in freshwater so it should be ok.

Just wanted to share a really easy install. I have a two year old Fusion ms-ra70n head unit and networked it to a Garmin mfd. System works great but it was always a pain to change volume while running. These new Fusion wireless remotes for $50 are awesome. I had to do a software update via USB which took about five minutes and the remote paired up and stuck where I wanted it, no issues. BOE electronics has them and you can add multiple remotes. Question for you: I have the new Fusion head unit model from yours, and also a compatible Garmin MFD.
How and which path did you take to connect it to the helm? I started looking at how I was going to run my cable, but Oh man that seems like a lot of panels to remove. Is there an easy route you took for that?
Thank you!
