Can you get to all the stereo settings using the fusion link app on an iPhone or on an axiom? I really don’t want a separate remote.

Also, does anyone know how well the Wi-Fi works if the unit is mounted in a cabin vs cockpit?

The WB670 does not have WiFi. It only connects via BT.

But the MFD/Phone app does have everything you need.

You will need and ERX or NRX remote however. Other wise you can't set up the radio and connect to it with the phone. Not sure if the MFD will operate the BT connections for that or not.

Orlando, if the 670 is connected via ethernet to a router or to the Garmin network, would it then be possible to connect to it via wifi? I'm guessing it might since the 770 can work that way.

Holy crap the Wi-Fi info is pretty misleading on their website. Glad I asked.

Wonder if the axiom Wi-Fi could be used to connect the wb and iphone. I could connect the wb to the Nmea network but I do want the Wi-Fi audio streaming

Right, provided you have WiFi on the boat. It does have one ethernet, if it is connected to the Garmin Marine Network then no wifi. Connect it to WiFi no album art on the MFD etc. But no internal WiFi. NMEA2000 is only needed to control the radio via the app, but album art is only over ethernet.

Yes, connect it to a router with wifi then your good. My 770 is still connected to my WiFi directly via the internal wifi of the 770 and still connected to the GMN via ethernet. But you can't bridge the GMN and your boat network because of the GMN has it's own DHCP server and will over ride the boat DHCP for the Garmin devices.

Nope, doesn't work that way. For Garmin either.

EDIT: The only way to get WiFI streaming is to have a WiFi router on the boat and connect the WB670 to that of get an RA770.

Orlando, my 770 is connected via ethernet to the Garmin network (and I get album art on the MFD). When I connect a device to the MFD wifi access point, the Fusion app to will show a valid wifi connection and control the stereo. I also connected the 770 wifi to my onboard router and can connect the app to the 770 using the router wifi. But, I can only do one at a time. When the boat electronics are on, only the MFD wifi connection works. When electronics are off, the router wifi connection to the Fusion works. Bluetooth works in both instances. I'm fine with that since if the electronics are on, I'm using Active Captain anyway. When they are off my device will be on the boat network.

Al, you have said that before and I find it very strange. I can have the RA770 connected to the boats WiFi via the internal WiFi of the 770 and at the same time have the ethernet port connected to the GMN and transmit album art. I do have the RA770 connected to a switch along with two ERX400's remotes and that is connected to the GMN via a POE blocker. The GMN is always the last on in my case, perhaps that is the difference?

Try turning Network...Garmin Marine Network to off. Sounds counterintuitive but I think that is how I got mine to work both ways.

Al, mine works all of the time with and without the GMN on or off. But if I am connected to the GMN via my cell it doesn't work, but not sure I want it to or need it to since I never really never have my cell connected to the GMN except for updates.

I guess for the OP to have this work you would need to get a wifi router and connect the WB670 to that and since your RM Axiom your not going to get album art on that anyway you would be fine with that.

Yeah I think the spec page is for all of the radio's and that is only for the 770, pretty misleading for sure.

What are you guys using for the boats wifi router? Guess I could use a household router and inverter or direct wire it if it has 12v adapter.

Linksys has routers that are 12v, like the EA4500 and 2500. I am using the 4500, but if this is the only use then you could get a cheap access point. Just cut the plug off and connect it to a 12v breaker.

I called garmin today and they said if I pair my phone with the wb using the Bluetooth button on the wb, then all stereo settings are available on the app. No other remote needed

Is the ms-ra770 the only unit that will connect to Wi-Fi wirelessly?

web site says the 670 will connect to Wi-Fi via Ethernet.

Yes, only the 770 has built-in wifi. The RA670 and WB670 need to be connected via ethernet to a wifi capable router or Garmin MFD, then they can be accessed wirelessly. I believe the Axiom can be connected to the Fusion via NMEA 2000 and then can control some playback and volume functions but not the full set of Fusion capability.

To add to what @alnav said about Axiom support, I also believe to get to all of the features like BT paring and such you will need a remote, but then your at the price of the 770. They really thought this out from a pricing stand point. I was considering getting the WB670 (even though I have the 770) just hide it away but the no wifi stopped me, also no 2nd aux in either.

Called garmin today about a remote and learned the following.

the wb670 and ra670 will both work with partybus and both connect to Wi-Fi. The short of it is a 670 connected to a router via Ethernet cable will function essentially the same as a 770.

so if I have a 670 and my router set up as an access point I can use airplay, etc. and anyone with a 770 can connect to my router and anyone with a 670 and a router set up as a Wi-Fi client can access my router to form a partybus.

he also said using my own router would provide better range and quality than using the 770 built in Wi-Fi.

Not sure that is any different then what was already said here, except for the party bus stuff, which isn't as easy to use as they state. That is the way I use my 770, wirelessly connected to my WiFi router. Connecting and keeping the "Party Bus", now called "Groups" with the firmware upgrade, going is not that easy and doesn't work quite as well as one would believe.

Edit: Did you ask about the Axiom support and being able to use the 670 without an NRX300 remote?

they said you could get to all stereo settings with the link app. There’s a Bluetooth pairing button on the wb670. They wouldn’t answer any questions about the axiom.
