I have 1972 183 Sea ray. I am trying to replace the tank. I pulled up the floor board to wher the tank is located. It was "foamed in" with something the consistency as Great Stuff. I cannot get the tank out. Does anybody have any suggestions? I tried runninga putty knife all around the tank but it is still locked in.

Do you know if it is bolted down somehow? That would be the first thing to check. If not, then is it just held in place by the foam on the bottom side of the tank where you can't reach. Maybe it is possible to get a small gauge stranded steel cable under the tank, and pull it back and forth and saw through the stuff underneath with the cable. They make wire like this with plastic loops on the end that electricians can use to cut through PVC conduit. Might work for you.

you have to chop all the foam away.

make sure you dont use anything that might spark, a old hand saw worlks well
