Just finished working on a Dixie with V6 power . Under power after about 800 yards the motor would just stall like running out of gas.. When on a remote tank, it ran fine
So , tank was pumped for debris and such, none found just a bit of water.Hooked up to a fuel pressure gauge at the carb, fuel pressure was 5.5 psi constant at idle,
during water test pressure went to 1/2 psi and motor stalled after about 800 yards at moderate power. Put remote tank on and came back with no problem .
So there is something happening but we dont know what. I pumped 15 gallons out thru the tanks feed tube, I can blow in to the tank and hear the bubbles. Sounds ok right, WRONG
Removed the copper feed tube, the manual shut-of and short hose to the water sep, installed new hose from tank to sep, test run failed again
Today we managed to remove the feed tube from the tank after trying to pass a flexible wire thru the fitting into the tank, it stopped at about 4 inches, When tube was removed the flex went in about 8 inches from the bottom of the feed tube.
So something was obstructing in the tube. using a test wire some small fine debris fell out but before we destroyed it the marina owner suggested removing the tube from the 90 deg tank fitting . Very carefully we unthreaded the tube and found a screen inside the tube at the very top . Looks just like a stent
And after removing that little headache motor runs perfectly now.
So after you have exausted all NORMAL possabilities explore the impossible ideas
