Hello all. I am trying to choose which style of pump to go with on my rebuild project while the port engine is out being rebuilt. The majority of friends are recommending electric but I would like your opinions too.

Boat: 1988 Sea Ray 300 WE, twin 350's, straight B/W drives,

choice A: Block off plates, low oil psi switch, electric fuel pump, (insert brand here)
or
Choice B: Factory style mechanical.

(Yes, both marine.)

And if I change to electric, I will change over both engine simultaneously.
Thanks as always,
Jim

I'm sure both will serve you well! Without any real knowledge I'd be inclined to stay away from additional wires and motors where possible, especially in a marine and bilge environment. I don't know what the arguments would be for the electric pumps but I'm sure someone will chime in and add there two cents. Do they offer better MPG? Are they more reliable? I'm kind of wondering too since I have a boat from the same era and might have to rebuild/replace down the road somewhere.
