Wanted to see if anyone encountered the problem I am having. I have a 2003 320 DA with 350 Mag MPI engines. The enigne alarm went on 2 beeps every approx minute. All gages were reading normal. Then the port side engine shut down while we were crusing to our destination which was only a couple of minutes away. Was able to restart engine and get there. Once there after I shut down both engines, it sounded like a bilge pump was stuck on. Futher investigation revealed that it appeared to be coming from where the fuel pump was located. It went off when I turn the battery off and went back on when I turn battery back on. Has anyone experienced this? Thanks Gino
There are two relays mounted on the top of your engine, in the front right next to the riser. Sounds like one of them may be stuck. One of the relays drives the fuel pump and if I remember correctly it is the one closed to the front. Try switching the relay with the other engine and see if the problem follows, if so get a replacement relay. Best buy two and replace the other as well.
This seemed to work. It actually looks like there was some kind of loose connection with the relay. When I touched the realy the pump would go off. When I let go it went back on. I did swap sides and made sure the connection was tight and the pump stayed off. I took it for a test run and the niehter engine shut down. There engine alarm did eventually start going off again during my test run. I was unable to change the relays for new ones as the local store was out so I had to order them. I will change them out this week (or comming weekend) once I get them. Hopefully this will correct the engine alarm. Thanks for your help.
