FUEL PRICE WTH

FWIW -- I've heard some truckers in this area saying it's not worth it to start the truck once diesel hits $7/gal

We're around $6.50 now on land :eek:

That doesn’t make sense since everything you buy has a fuel surcharge. If the truckers are eating the increase they are doing it wrong
 
In Hawaii right now the 10% ethanol gasoline mix is at about $5.35 a gallon. The non-ethanol mix is just under $6 per gallon now. 52.25 cents per gallon state tax is added to the purchase too. Diesel is at about $5.49 per gallon here too.
 
There was a time I wished I had the larger engine instead of the 5.0 MPI.
No more.
 
$5.55 here yesterday, I’m sure it’s gone higher overnight. I don’t let the truck get past 1/2 a tank. I store 10gal in the shop for the NewHolland

Yeah they are like "Here's $20 to help you with the gas..." Just bring beer I always replied, oh, and some lunch too ;)
 
Every season I usually get a newbie on the boat and invariably when I go the fuel dock, they ask if they can pay for the fuel. I tell them they do not have to pay but sometimes they try and insist. I love watching their faces as the dials spin... then they swallow hard when the pump stops. BUT Then I tell them, "Oh, that's only one tank. There is one on the other side..." and watch them freak out. When the second tank is complete, they are usually quite pale and I tell them "Remember, I told you that you do not have to pay". They then breathe a sigh of relief as I let them off the hook. I tell them that they can buy me a beer or two...

This year should be fun to see. I need to get a GoPro to film their reactions...

Whenever people tell Me they want to pay for fuel I tell them I burn 44gal hr and they tend to back off quickly even before $6gal diesel prices. It will cost me $264 per hr to run the boat this summer. I can’t stand cruising at hull speed but I might need to force my self to like it this summer. Good thing the kids are not going to college soon.

My friends suck….. not one has ever offered to pay for fuel.
But I have to tell you a couple friends never let me pay for lunch or dinner… I am good with that
 
As much as I miss our boat, I probably sold it at a perfect time. Filling up the 700 gallon tankage at even $5.50/gallon would be $3850. OUCH!
