Just a heads up for folks heading over to Catalina this summer. It may be worth tankering extra fuel this season even more than usual. I ended up doing more cruising than usual out there last weekend and ended up paying $6.50/gal at Avalon and then needed even more and spent $6.48/gal at Two Harbors/Isthmus. Brutal.

God I remember when it was $2.65 in Avalon and I thought that was high. We went there 4 times a year from San Deigo and stayed a few nights in Avalon then Goat Harbor then the Isthmus. $6.50 a gal. is brutal!!!!

I was in Avalon this weekend. Left Newport knowing I needed some 50-1 for my dinghy. Figured I could buy at the dock premixed.
Motored over to the dock with the dinghy. "No we don't sell premix anymore" but we can sell you a quart of oil. I said OK.

I motored back to my mooring with 1 gallon of 50-1 and $ 13.67 less in my pocket. Sure am glad I didn't have to put any fuel in
my 168 gallons of tankage onboard the mothership.

Wow - that is really bad. MDR isn't great...just over $5 a gallon, but those prices are highway robbery. I'm headed over to Two Harbors again next weekend and Avalon in July. Last trip to Avalon, including genny use while there, ran a little over $600 round trip. Thank God the moorings are still very reasonably priced and the bars and restaurants do not gouge on prices.

Why not? It would ONLY cost $1092 to fill 'er up!?!! Can you believe that? Its insane. I did accidently keep their rag though, a mighty fine free gift. Thank God my boat gets reasonable gas-YARDAGE.

Relatives in London are paying over $11 per gal.
Oil has dropped over $10 a bbl this past week,, should give us some relief.

We've spent that on a crummy Dodger game for the family.
Money better spent at the Isthmus.

That makes me feel better about paying $4.60/gal at Deer Harbor in WA yesterday. Not much better, but better than $6+/gal.
