I have a 1999 270 Sundancer, 7.4L Bravo III, not the special edition, with an internal fuel vent inside the fuel filler cap. When ever I re-fuel the boat, even when keeping the nozzle flow real slow, the fuel geisers out the fill pipe with great force. Sometimes if I rock the boat while re-fueling it does not happen as often. As the tank becomes full it will not happen for the last 25 gallons of installed fuel. Tank size is 100 gallons. The last few times the boat was re-fueled I noticed liquid fuel, a small amount but a constant flow, coming out of the vent running down into the fill pipe. Does it sounds like a possible obstruction in the vent? Please advise any suggestions?

Does sound like a vent line obstruction. You cant fill the tank unless air can escape. Can you get to your vent line to pull off and inspect?

I can. One end obviously terminates at the fuel fill inlet pipe, the other on top of the tank, under the rear bunk, there is an access hatch. When the fuel level drops a bit I will gain access from the hatch and clear the vent.

Thanks, I will keep you posted.

Thanks and good luck!

4shure, check to see if your vent line is lower than the top of your tank. Maby fuel is getting traped in the vent line, and not draining back into the tank.
