When you fellas change your fuel filters (I have 2 per motor) do you shut the tanks off with the motors running until they die out to minimize fuel in the lines and filters?

I never did that on my gas motors in my old boat. There is no pressure in those lines so the only fuel you’re going to get is what’s in the filters themselves.
Diesels are a different animal and those fuel supplies have to be shut before opening up the system or removing filters.

That’s what I had thought but figured I would put it out there. The knowledge that is shared here on the forum is always a help. Thank you.
