89' Amberjack 270. I replaced the small fuel filters built into the pump ( the old ones were ceramic, who knew?). I have what looks to be a fuel filter water separator coming off the fuel tanks. There are bolts at top and bottom. Is there a screw on type filter inside?

The canister drops off and there is a filter inside. Not usually screw on.

That looks to be the ol toilet paper roll type. Remove the bottom bolt and the bowl drops down. The filter will have one sealing side and the closed side, bottom. I've never seen one so dark, you can't see through it. Most NAPA stores should be able to cross numbers to get you the proper filter.

Personally I would get a racor head and filter and replace. Just a better filter media.

To me, it looks like an older Fram canister fuel filter. Loosen/remove the top center bolt to get the bottom canister to drop down. There should be a filter inside that you can replace. Filter typically comes with the oring gasket for the canister.
