I just read an old thread pertaining to the purchase of a boat. What to do, what not to do, what to ask and what to tell. I have absorbed the information & THANK YOU all for the guidance. I have yet to purchase my first boat so you can imagine how valuable your posts are to me. The biggest hold up for me is finding the right one. My wife said "God help us when he does." So finding the right one is where I, Yes even I, can offer some advice to anyone trying to sell a boat. I know Im spouting common sense to individuals here, However beit a dealer, broker, or Joe-Bob down at the end of the marina, it applies to all. Here goes...
1. First time buyers are not all stupid..........Dont show me pictures on the internet of the "sister boat". Im paying with hard earned cash, I dont want to see the sister.
2. At least clean it up! .......If I see peanut shells in the carpet, wet towells on the interior cushins and fishing gear stored in the aft cabin, Im moving on. Let me guess, "She's well taken care of".
3. Be a man ........ If you don't know simply say "I don't know". I was on a boat two weeks ago and the owners father said the boat had no hour meter. I guess this little meter below the tach measures ???????? # of fish caught?
I could go on and I really just venting over my frustrated search, but one of these days, soon I hope, somebody is gonna have a pocket full of cash (hey it could be you!) & Im going to be taking an afternoon nap in a quiet little cove somewhere.
