Ok most of you have been watching me kill my self to get this 270 on the water soon. I am down to some of the not to important stuff now.

I need to know, does any one have the wiring diagram for the front spot light. It's a 1982 Not sure who made the light.

My up and down works and so does the speed setting, Also the high low.

It just will not turn left or right.
Ohh,, and no clicking or buzz from the servo....

If any one can help on this off the wall question, let me know :smt100

I had the EXACT problem, and it still pops up every now and again. My fix was disassembly of the 'joystick', a through cleaning and application of dialectric grease. BUT...be carefull with disassembly, as the switch contacts are teeny-tiny springs with 'lil brass nubs on the ends that are just WAITING to go flying, and you don't have a lot of slack with the wiring so you have to do it right there. Put a good sized plastic sheet under the switch as you clean to catch anything that goes flying.
Hope it helps. Don't have a schematic, and I'm amazed a 30yr old remote spotlight still works. :)

I agree that it is more likely in the joystick. Although I have seen gears stripped, it's not very often. Before you take the joystick apart, try shooting high pressure air in to it. I use one of those computer air cans and usually fixes the issue. A little squirt of wd 40 can help too

Cleaning and disassembling the control is a possible solution, but here are some things to try first.

The newer units have fuses for each function. If these are present try removing and replacing to clean off any dirt on the contacts.

To determine if the problem is in the control, or the light, remove the wires from the back of the control and by pass the switch. By playing around with the cables you should be able to make the light do everything. It may not illuminate and turn, but you should be able to get it to turn. If it does turn, problem in control. If it does not turn problem in light itself, or in turn circuit between helm and light.

Oddly enough, Woody Wax is great for this. Mine wouldn't go up, just down, left and right. Took it apart, cleaned the contacts, sprayed it with Woody, and it works great.
