New to Sea Rays and this size of boat and equipment.

We have a 1988 27ft Sundancer with a Norcold model DE-251W Refrig. When we are hooked up to shore power the frig has been kicking off the panel breaker and the main after several minutes. ( can hear the frig start up) Only other thing we have on is the AC convertor. There is no air conditioner on the boat that would add to a load.

Really have no idea where to start looking and thought more experienced heads might have an idea.
Also do you have to have the frig switch on the helm panel on when you are on dock power?
Thanks for any help.

Have seen other post of a member recently with issue of not starting.

Refer works fine on 12V?

If it works on 12v, it's likely a defective 120v power supply.
If it overloads on both 12v and 120v, it's likely a faulty compressor.

I don't have Norcold, so I'm sure others here can chime in more specifically...

Thanks for the replies, will try it on 12v the next time I get to the boat so as to eliminate some of the possiblities.
I will also make sure both switches aren't on.

Think I might have found our problem.

Made it down to the boat this weekend, and tried a new power cord to the power pedestal and the frig kept tripping after several minutes.

Ran the power cord to another pedestal and it ran for the several hours we were there before taking the boat out.
Ran good on DC also while on the water.
Left it running to the good pedestal to see how it does untill the marina can look at the one near the boat.

Found when hooked up to the bad pedestal that the polarity lights would just light dimmly for a few seconds.

Will take the panel off and check what type of bulbs are used for the normal lights on panel. That do not light and have read where some members have used new LED type bulbs for replacement since they are on all the time.
